Forums - Gaming - Vgchartz ranking game--Devil May Cry 4

Pros:

  • Great soundtrack
  • Good graphics and art-style
  • Gameplay was good.
  • Using Dante was awesome. He had a lot of skills and different weapons to choose from.

Cons

  • Backtracking: For about half or 2/3rd of the game, you go from point A to point B. After you reached point B, you go all the way to point A. DMC4 didn't warrant the $60 price tag because of this and my next point. It felt like half a game.
  • Repetitive: you fight the same three bosses three times in the same place. Very disappointing.
  • Nero: He sucks compared to Dante. He doesn't have as many skills or weapons as Dante. Using his hand to jump over obstacles or reach places was frustrating. Oh and cheer up emo kid.
  • Annoying camera in small areas
  • Those red walls: in order to remove the red walls, you have to defeat all the enemies in that certain area. The thing is the red walls appear in every area you enter. It got old and annoying very fast.
  • The story was interesting at first with the whole "Is Dante a friend or foe," but the story just lost it after a few hours in.
  • Dice/board mini-game. So there's this little game that requires you to hit the dice (aka rolling the dice). A statue of you moves after you hit, and you have move the statue to break a seal. It was such a stupid waste of time. There's like 3 types of this in one level. WTF?
  • Secret missions aren't really a secret. Nero's hand starts to glow when you're near a secret level. I found most of the secret missions because of this. Small complaint, but you know, it's suppose to be secret.

As a HUGE Devil May Cry fan

7.0

Good:
Dante
Graphics
Still fast phased action game

Bad:
Nero
Boring bosses that you need to kill at least twice
Stupid side characters.

Take my love, take my land..

6.5

Pros:

- Good music

- Good action

Neutral:

- OK graphics

Cons:

- SAME as DMC1 and 3, really next time, at least some changes.

- You get only half of game, in second half, you must backtracking al game. It even has same bosses.

- What the point of having two characters, when they are practically same?

- Weird camera

6.5 sounds about right!

I really did not enjoy this game at all! Graphics were pretty bad, too much backtracking, and it never really gave a challenge!

Pros:
- Nero's gameplay style added a whole new level of depth into the game
- Dante's Weapons are amongst the best in the entire series
- One of the best boss fights in the series, Belial
- The best OST in the series

Cons:
- Action not as free-flowing as DMC3
- Had tons of bugs and glitches, especially on the Sanctus fight
- Dante's too overpowered, made for an easier game
- Having to replay the same Nero parts with Dante, instead of adding new scenarios

8.5

+ fun, decent look, inventive locations and enemies, huge bosses that weren't too much of a chore (I don't like bosses at all) plus the standard DMC 'cool' action factor

- usual bonkers plot that makes no sense, level flow that makes no sense, silly characters/dialogue and too much posturing (with rose in mouth no less)

Overall a good, fun game which does exactly what it says on the tin but by number 4 (graphics overhaul aside) has nothing new to offer and pales next to the real big hitters in the marketplace.

Still, at least it was a solid title with no major gliches or issues I saw. A solid 85% library rounder outer IMHO.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...
