@letsdance - it is very early days yet for FF XIII preorders. Things will pick up, trust me.

Also, since you decided to be personal, care to point out all of these times I've been wrong?

I think what he was trying to say to Darth is that you are not right 100% of the time. Of course, you're right a damn sight more than the rest of us (except maybe BHR-3 ). What does TheSource think?

THeSOurce EVEN SAID:

"FF13 can sell 10 million worldwide"

so there goes your argument further into the 5,000 ft coffin my chocobo has dug for you

& point out whatever you want on the GAME list kantor

I have several sites there backng my claim, along with ioi, the source (albeit in a  different thread) & ofcourse S-E's huge marketing

you have:

letsdance (check his other thread to see how his theory for this was bashed) & yourself  & the pre-order chart WHICH ioi makes who is telling you there's nothing to worry about

we don't need a super calculator to work out who's winning here

I'll call your ioi and raise you famitsu. and so4. and ToV

Are you getting VG chartz most antecipated game?

I think what will be of this forum after FFXIII release. What are Darth going to hype?

5.5 - 6 million are mine. almost 3 to one in favor of Ps3.

2 million in Japan.

NA and Eu wont make up for lost sales in Japan.

Ps3 cant sell SW as well as the Ps2 and the 360 cant sell JRPG's as well as the Ps3 can. Which wont make up the difference the Ps3 loses to the Ps2.

On top of that JRPGs arent that popular anymore. I'd even say if it was on the Ps2 sales would decline also.

CoDWaW - sold 400k opening week and is now at 2 million in NA. Those are the sales I see for FF13 in NA except not as front loaded since it isnt in the FPS genre and isnt in the same franchise as a game with the biggest entertainment launch in history.

I'm with ioi in this one.

A lot of FF's crowd aren't "hardcore gamers", and as far as I know, the game's release date didn't appear anywhere other than the internet.

Comparing FF to other two games that have Betas is just wrong, since there are different circumstances.

I'm actually taking the middle ground around here, I think the game will do around 8 million, a bit better than FFX, because of the 360 version that will add... around 0.75-1mil to what the game would've got on the PS3 alone.

Bet with Dr.A.Peter.Nintendo that Super Mario Galaxy 2 won't sell 15 million copies up to six months after it's release, the winner will get Avatar control for a week and signature control for a month.

gow3 and MAG are surprising to me

FF XIII will sell more in week one than BF:BC, despite what the preorders are currently showing.

Undoubtedly. But then that's not much of an achievement.

Listen guys I'm not on any side here (which is always the case).

Realistically we can expect the following for FF XIII:

PS3:
Japan - 1.3-1.4m week one, 2m total
NA - 400-500k week one, 2m total
Eu - 300-400k week one, 1.5m total

X360
NA - 300-400k week one, 1.5m total
Eu - 200-300k week one, 1m total

Very rough, but these would be reasonable expectations. I can't see it doing 10m but it should be solid at around 8m ish over the two platforms.

I agree and disagree with you at the same time. 8-9m is where I peg it but I am not sure if it will be spread around as your rough estimates are. But then again you have the power!

LTD is just so arbitrary i think. I mean, the game could be in store for 2 or 3 years after release. LTD is til the game stop to sell, but, the game can stay one year, 2 years, 3 years or even more selling...

well its quite obvious that the most beastly game on that list is Halo: Reach!  Its already at 12k and its almost a year before it comes out!!

Why would it do better on a smaller userbase? Especially since NA 360 owners arent that into JRPG's so I'd argue the userbase is worse than it actually appears to be... and that takes me into my second point which is JRPGs are becoming niche. So even though the Ps3 users are more interested in them than the 360 user base I'd still say Ps3 owners arent as interested as people were 5-10 years ago.

You expect Ps3 version to sell better... so obvious the 9 million lead the 360 has wont mean much. And combined Ps3 360 sales will still be less then Ps2's.
