Not that much of a big "gap" when you take into account the Exclusive stuff, advertising and console gap. Should have been much bigger.

Point to note -

GTA4 PS3 2009 Sales - 767,419
GTA4 360 2009 Sales - 731,028

Wasn't aware of this. And with Microsoft's two exclusive episodes, this has to be a slap in the face.

Erm, take a look at how Episodes from Liberty City is selling + however many downloaded the episodes instead of buying the disc + GTA IV has been on Games on Demand for some time now.

How ironic...

Yeah, you're right carl, Microsoft is just crying that GTA sold better on PS3 this year! In fact, they've decided to leave the console market entirely as a result of this cotastrophe! I mean seriously, come back when you understand how a business works. Oh but wait, I forgot, it's just "glorified DLC" isn't it?

Continue your spin, it's amusing that you came in here saying others were spinning... Yet you bring up the sales of DLC

The fact remains, despite DLC and massive advertising... PS3 version of GTA4 managed to sell more than the 360 version this year.

Really?

So riddle me this? You really think Microsoft cares that PS3 GTA 4 has outsold the 360 version by a whopping 35,000 units this year? Please tell me you're joking...

How is that a "large sale gap"??

considering the console install base gap at the time, not to mention 50 million dollars worth of exclusives. I personally think it's very very close

It is a large gap considering that all previous GTA titles have been home to the Playstation...one would at least expect the sales to be on par.

Your argument suggests the sales are surprising because 360 fans must have originally owned an Xbox and therefore also retain some anti-PS franchise bias. Whilst in some examples such as Tekken, the association with PS is still stronger, the vast majority of 360 owners do not care where GTA made it big. Equally, if Halo went multiplatform, the vast majority of PS3 owners would not care where Halo has its roots.

Furthermore, bear in mind that many 360 owners were PS2 owners, and as such may well have been big fans of the GTA franchise for some time now.

As for GTAV, I would expect sales to be very, very close for first week and lifetime. Literally neck and neck.

@Cgi - "Slap in the face" .... huh??

Tales of liberty city and the two downloadable contents packs have already outsold killzone 2.

I would love to get a "slap in the face" that made money like that.

I dunno if I am being stupid, but how so? Episodes from Liberty City has sold 650k so far

http://www.vgchartz.com/games/game.php?id=34859

Killzone 2 has sold 2.12m

http://www.vgchartz.com/games/game.php?id=12253&region=All

We don't have any concrete figures beyond the 1m initially reported concerning DLC sales. The only thing to go on is Pachter saying he thinks it will get to 2m

The thing is... I've had facts and figures to back that, whenever it is needed in an arguement... Or to prove someone wrong. I also have facts and figures to back GTA4 PS3 > GTA4 360 this year... Right here on VGChartz.

Also, if nobody cared, nobody would go in a little fit about it... Hint hint.

You have nothing, Mr Not-Defensive

Do i have to explain? The thread is about sales of GTA/GTA4 between PS3 and 360. I have a right to bring up sales of GTA4... Dont i, sir?

I showed that the PS3 version has had better legs, at least this year... Which could also mean the PS3 version of GTA5 will also have better legs... Even if 360 gets all the exclusive stuff.

Happy now?
