Forums - Sales - Sales Hit or Miss Game of the Day (12/9) - MadWorld

I will say this once and make it very clear. Madworld and other so called Mature games have failed on the Wii not because the Wii has a lack of hardcore gamers but because the Wii is the ultimate multiplayer system. Which is why games like mario kart, smash bros, wii sports etc have sold so well. Casual gamers want something that is fun to pick up and play for 20 minutes as it is for three hours. Most of the mature games released for the system are fun solo experiences but they miss the intented market.

go look at the sales of madworld compared with those of NMH, its pretty enlightening

Is No More Heroes, a Beat em up/Brawler? I've never played the game, but I thought it had more of an open world gameplay?

Nah, the open world is just a hub. There's no action in it.

They're both action games with dirt-cheap stylized graphics, some decent music and voice work, and a focus on boss fights with a few special challenges thrown in. I'd say the main distinction between the two is that MadWorld offers more interesting fights with goons (thanks to the diverse selection of violence) and more integrated special challenges, while No More Heroes offers more intriguing plot and dialogue.

Thanks for clearing that up for me famousringo.

Madworld looks like a pretty decent game, how did it sell to less than 1% of the wii's userbase is beyond me.

Several reasons.

- Heavily stylized graphics. Call it "the Okami effect." Some of us love them, but many more seem to hate them

- Content. ~6 hours worth is enough to take this off the wish list of many dedicated gamers who demand a better dollar per hour entertainment ratio. Some wait until the price falls, others just move on to something else.

- Extreme violence and swearing. Lots of people, even core gamers, get turned off by the brutality and foul language in a game like this. I was borderline on it. There were times I had to stop playing it because it was disturbing the people around me.
