1. WTF is Shin Megami? 2. Devil May Cry and Ninja Gaiden are mediocre 3. Okay I'll give you MGS, FF, Mario, Pokemon and even GT5 (my most looked forward to game)
But damn west has so many. I'm getting tired of listing them but there's Grand Theft Auto, Killzone, Ratchet & Clank, Crash Bandicoot, Gears of War, Halo, Modern Warfare, Assassin's Creed, Mass Effect, Oblivion, Fallout, God of War, Half Life (oh yeah!), Left 4 Dead, Bioshock, Tom Clancy Games and more. Western Games >>>>>>> Japanese games |
Persona series (to be more exact), Final Fantasy series, Kingdom Hearts series, MGS series, Mario series, Pokemonm series, GT5, Zelda series, Xenogears (best game ever), Chrono series, Demon Souls, Valkyria series, Diagaea series, Grandia series (until Grandia 3), Lunar series, Star Ocean series (just kidding)

Are you guys serious?
Most remembered games have fairly barebones stories (Super Mario Bros. springs to mind) but define themselves in other ways. A good story is only a small part of it. And the funny thing about saying that these western games won't be remembered ____ years from now is that that time hasn't passed yet. You really have no idea of what will happen.

Then explain to me why rpgs are so popular in Japan? If the japanese people care only for gameplay then then rpgs would not be as popular as they are today in Japan since most rpgs are story-driven.

well some may argue that japanese games(mostly rpgs) dont use a different style of gameplay either. However when i play a game like MW2 and i see that the game is exactly the same as the previous title, i really have to question why the game is as popular as it is. With Japanese games however i dont have this problem. if a game has similar gameplay too another game and someone were to ask wats so special about it, we can argue that the story and characters are what made it special and wat made it a classic. and You just wont get that kind of reception from most western games
