Forums - Nintendo - Wii vs. GCN first party games

In this thread, we shall compare Wii and GCN first party games.  Let's see now...

SMG, SMG2, NSMBWii >>> Super Mario Sunshine

Mario Kart Wii > Mario Kart Double Dash

Metroid Prime Trilogy, Metroid Other M >>> Metroid Prime 1/2

Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn > Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance

NPC! Pikmin 1, NPC! Pikmin 2, Pikmin 3 >>> Pikmin 1/2

Brawl > Melee

Twilight Princess Wii > Twilight Princess GCN

Super Paper Mario < Thousand Year Door

Wii Sports, Wii Sports Resort, Mario Party 8, Wii Play >>> however many Mario Parties there were for GCN

Animal Crossing: City Folk > Animal Crossing

Batallion Wars II > Batallion Wars

(anything else that I'm forgetting?)

...and that leaves The Wind Waker, both Star Fox games, F-Zero GX, Geist, Eternal Darkness, Luigi's Mansion (and a few others that I might be forgetting?  idk) unanswered.  However, there are also Punch-Out!!, Sin and Punishment 2, Wii Fit, Wii Fit Plus, Wii Music, Excite Truck, Excitebots, Disaster: Day of Crisis, Fatal Frame IV, Dynamic Slash, Endless Ocean, and others for Wii.  Not to mention, Zelda Wii, which obviously exists, various WiiWare projects, and anything else that comes out over the few years, given that the Wii has only been out for three years.

So, what are people complaining about again?

"So, what are people complaining about again?"

3rd parties?

Complain? But no one complains about the Wii. Even the devs love it, it's the console of choice.

Yet the main complaint is still about 3rd parties...

The GC didn't have much third party support...

(although I suppose it was a little better than the Wii, in terms of core games)

A game I'm developing with some friends:

www.xnagg.com/zombieasteroids/publish.htm

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

While I love the Wii, your OP is kinda biased. A lot of the games you mention are remakes of GC games so they don't count. Also, Wind Waker shouldn't be in the paragraph below, it should obvously be at the top which makes it:

Twilight Princess Wii

3rd parties shouldnt be compared to GC. They should be compared to the market leaders of previous gens.

PS1 and/or PS2.

PS2 was covered in shovelware.

If we're going to talk about third parties we need to go back to the Golden Age - SNES.

Tag - "No trolling on my watch!"

Perhaps it's because they use said money to put lots of time into games, instead of shitting them out after short development cycles as many devs do, that the lineup has been "weak" over the past two years?

I mean, Other M has been in development since 2006, they said in an interview. SMG2 would probably be 2007 or early 2008. Zelda Wii, since 2006 or 2007 or something, who knows.

Nintendo takes their time developing games, and doesn't rush them out for yearly releases like Activision or EA do - wasn't that much obvious by this point?
