Forums - Nintendo - What you couldn't stand in your Zelda? What do you Want in Your Zelda?

Now that we know that Zelda Wii is going to be a slight departure in the series in terms of gameplay and formula. What could you not stand in your Zelda?

Personally I do not want a leveling system or branched upgrade system akin to more modern Action RPGs... I think the traditional heart system is better for Zelda (though I do believe hearts should be given out for specific quests completed... increasing the overall quests and sidequests present) and I do believe a weapon upgrade system would be a welcome addition.

For instance the hookshot initially cannot snatch enemy armor off initially(a la metroid prime 3) until it was upgraded by combining some materials in the overworld garnered from questing. Or the master sword being able to repulse lesser evil attacks after the traditional jewel in the hilt is returned (it is the sword of evil's bane) ie... early enemies that shoot deku nuts or stones with a sling shot as such would no longer be able to hurt link with those attacks... Said stones would be stopped and fall to the floor once the master sword is not sheathed... multiplying the gameplay opportunities...

I couldn't stand the huge expanses of nothingness. It's just a waste of megabytes.
Also, the old 'kill all the enemies in the room' or 'hit the switch with the boomerang' just to open a door is getting old. They can leave those aspects in the game, but make it more interesting or something.

Oh God no, please don't change it that much. When I heard Aonuma talking about changes I was thinking along the lines of story and controls/puzzles. But certainly I don't want it to become a regular RPG, especially if it's anything like a lot of the ones they're doing nowadays.

The changes I was thinking of is not to make the games much more like FInal Fantasy... but I do believe a weapon upgrading system... to make the weapons gradually do more would be an intricate experience in zelda. Think the Sword upgrade process in A Link To The Past, but fleshed out a little more with more weapons undergoing the same process... I do believe the heart system shouldn't change, but i dont want to just find them randomly all over the world... I want them to be earned... not just spending 500 rupees in a game shop

Want: Unique Weapon Upgrade System

Wouldn't mind: Wii Motion-Plus

Don't Want: Tingle in any shape or form

I want a penis in my Zelda.

Other than that, it can stay the same.

That having alot of rupies can actually mean something this time around, I barely used any in TP.

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

I want more sidequests that are useful for something other than pieces of heart/bottles, but are non-essential. More stuff like the Great Fairy Sword, the Biggoron Sword, the Rupee Armor, the Magic Armor, etc.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

take out sidequests, excessive dialogue, cutscenes, make it more action based, make it 2D
