GT 3 was a great showcase for the power of the PS2. It set the bar higher, as far as depth and visuals go.

GT5 needs to have that level of awesome and nowadays, that's a pretty tall order. People (not me) already got a taste of GT5 with Prologue. I hope it whet their appetites. But part of me doesn't expect gamers to be as easily blown away, this time. Competition is much fiercer.

This series is on the up.

NFS series has gone down hill in quality and they were releasing one a year.

A large portion of Forza 2's sales are do to bundles.

PRESUMING the genre that Gran Turismo sits in still has a huge following and hasn't yet been played out the way musical instrument games appear to be heading.  I won't question the game having legs.  I can question, however, the game's genre being all that.  Same can be said about JRPGs and how they are set to do.  JRPGs used to be a huge and critically important genre.  However, it looks like on the RPG front, this generation has seen Western RPGs be the big category for RPGs.

First week 2 million lifetime 9 million i can certainly see it falling lower as exclusives haven't been the sure thing they used to be for Sony this gen.

did you happen to notice that the GT4 prologue was only out for 3 months before the main game came out?  The GT5 prologue is the only GT game on the ps3 and it has been out for almost 2 years now.  

You can't really compare the prologues at all.  Unless Sony does a massive bundling like they did with GT3 where every system sold for over a year comes with a copy of the game, I don't see this game selling more than 8 million LTD.

Probably more like 1.92 million first week and 10.2 million lifetime. Using Need For Speed as an example is kind of a bad idea. The quality in the games have gone down dramatically. I will say I am not a very big GT fan at all but, they have amazing sales and are amazing game's and I don't expect that to change one bit.
