Forums - Nintendo - I really love Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles (Also, Claire.)

I thought Umbrella Chronicles was great back in the day, but I like this one even more. I fell in love with the franchise when I played Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition, and since then I've played through REmake and Umbrella Chronicles. As such, I had no experience at all with Claire Redfield until I watched Resident Evil: Degeneration, where I thought she was pretty cool.

After playing through most of The Darkside Chronicles I have realized that Claire ROCKS. I can't believe how much I like this character, she may well be my favorite female character in gaming, I ever changed my avatar to this really stylish pic of her. This game just makes me want a RE2-remake even more, and I can't believe Capcom never make one. It would be great. Sure, I like the RE4-playstyle more, but the oldschool RE-stuff is pretty great too. I just can't really go and play the old PSX-games because, well, I'm afraid that they've probably aged really badly. That's why I want a remake.

Anyway, back to the point of the thread - Darkside Chronicles. Fantastic game. Anyone who likes RE should get this, in my opinion. One of the best games out for the Wii this holiday season, too. I heard a lot of complaints about the shaky cam, but I've had no troubles with it whatsoever. I think the main draw of the game is the feeling it gives you. The immersion in it is great, and visually it's spectacular. Well, that's what I think anyway. Anyone else have any opinions to share on the game?

I don't much like DSC.

Butchering of the RE2/CV characters aside (I expected the plots to butchered...but not the characters too)....I cannot stand the camera. It shakes too much, non-stop.

I aim perfectly stable yet on screen the aim is bouncing about everywhere because of the crappy camera.

Hate it.

Hate it!

Well, I can't speak for stuff from RE2 and CV being butchered since I never properly played them, but I felt like most of it was relayed pretty well. What was changed/bad about the characters?

will buy once its cheap :), i trust kylie on all RE related topics

Alfred was a great eccentric in the original, he was made to be insane and a clear mental split personality yet still very much adult. In DSC he comes across as a more depressed and bored child.

Alexia...my god, she was very queen like and very dominant and adult in personailty. In DSC she talks and acts like some child.

I don't even want to comment on Weskers involvement during the CV section in DSC.

Yeah, I had gotten the impression that Alfred wasn't as weird as he is in DSC. Good to know.

So, I take it that the RE2-parts are fine, then? Characterwise, I mean.

Sort of, Marvin and Chief Irons both die so fast it was hard for them to have their characters butchered.  Annette Birkin wasn't done very well, she cared about her daughter a lot more in the original and defended Williams work a lot stronger until it finally drove her to lose her senses and get herself killed.

Ah, I see.

... Man I want them to remake RE2.

This!Totally agree

I love it too. Been playing that over Assasisn creed 2, MW2 earlier last month...

Its not as engaging as Dead Space was...but it looks great and shake cam makes it fun and challenging.

KylieDog doesn't like it as Jill isn't in any of the chapters :)

! Suddenly, it all makes sense...

is really fantastic, and much better than UC.Theres no character butchering lol, because while i played both RE2 and Veronica the character development was laughable one half and non existant for the most part.Certainly RE was never meant to be Metal Gear or POP back then.I think irons dialogues are 3 or 2 lines in RE2... Thats cherry picking at its best inmho.

I just got the game (along with my new black Wii ) and I must say, this game looks phenomenal! it's like a beefed up RE4. On to the RE2 remake, Capcom!

PS: Who in their right mind would take Jill over Claire?!
