Famitsu gave it a 40/40, one of the only games ever, this game is made by a team and a developer who is almost always exceptional, you enjoyed the game at E3, it got a 9/10 from Eurogamer and a 10/10 from Edge. Everyone who has played the actual game, has enjoyed it and the Japanese fan reaction has been great according to reports and user reviews.
That's a pretty good sign that the game might be good, right?

I think you missed the point there Zen.

Or you did.
My point was that even if you don't trust Edge, you can still use its score as an addative variable when prejudging a game, like we all are here. Prejudging a game can only be done based on the evidence available to you at the time of the prejudging. If Naz wanted to prejudge the game, like I do, the evidence all points to great. Trust Edge or not, if they gave the game a 1/10, it could be used as a variable when prejudging the game to suck, so a 10/10 is also usable.
In reality(imho), Edge is one of the harshest reviewers, period. Giving a game a 10/10 is a very good indication of good quality. EVERY review source, has one or two fluke reviews which were mistakes, and which detractors will point towards, everytime their credibility is called into question, but in general, Edge is usually a very harsh reviewer, and a very well respected one. Just like Eurogamer. This game will be at least "good" and implying otherwise, is probably just a hope, and not a deduction, imho.
I bet you'll have a hard time finding a BAD game that Edge gave a 10/10. I'd challenge someone to list them, in fact, I will:
- Super Mario 64 (Nintendo 64) - E35 (1996)
- Gran Turismo (Sony PlayStation) - E55 (1997)
- The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (Nintendo 64) - E66 (1998)
- Halo: Combat Evolved (Xbox) - E105 (2001)
- Half-Life 2 (Windows PC) - E143 (2004)
- Halo 3 (Xbox 360) - E181 (2007)
- The Orange Box (Windows PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360) - E182 (2007)
- Super Mario Galaxy (Wii) - E183 (2007)
- Grand Theft Auto IV (PlayStation 3, Xbox 360) - E189 (2008)
- LittleBigPlanet (PlayStation 3) - E195 (2008)
- Bayonetta (PlayStation 3, Xbox 360) - E209 (2009)
For Bayonetta to not be "great" it would have to be the worst game on that list. Right? When you look at it like that, you see...
That said, Naz never commented on the quality of the game, and I have no problem with his opinion of Edge. I'm responding to you, not him. I'm willing to bet he understood what I meant in my first post.
