How do you play multiplayer in ToS: DotNW? I know that you have to put the second character on semi-auto or manual, but i can't get the second controller to stay on.

Other than set the character on Manual control and turn on a controller, no. I only played multiplayer in the first game on GC.

I'm doing a runthrough with a friend currently (well not at this exact moment), and we've had no troubles at all. The control connects fine after we add it in the reconnect-thing (with the home button), and then we just put Marta as manual and everything goes along perfectly.

what buttons do you press to turn it on? 1 and 2? i do that, but the controller blinks for a couple seconds then shuts off :(

That's very strange. Sorry to say that I don't think I can offer any help... I've not had any problems. :/

is there a specific place/menu i have to do it at?

I go in the home menu, press the reconnect-thing, then connect both wiimotes with 1 and 2, and once they're connected I just exit the home menu and start playing.
