A dead man is found in a locked room, hanging from the ceiling 4 ft. above the floor.

The room is completely empty, except for a puddle of water below him. How did he die?

Fair enough, KingKold... But I had something of my own that would really make you work for it... A riddle so long and convoluted, it was cut out of a certain movie adaptation of an entry in a certain famous series of books...

I'm going to make up a completely ridiculous answer (which works) for that riddle. If it's right, LOL.

So the man was swimming and there was a noose on the ceiling (which was a foot above the water level). So, being an idiot, he put his head through. Then, somebody fired a rocket at the room, and the water started to leak out, and he was hanged.

And even if it's not the answer you intended, IT FITS ALL OF THE CRITERIA, SO IT'S RIGHT.
