My son (age 7) came up with a game idea over the Thanksgiving Break (in the US)

-- Lego Mario.

That seems like such a natural to me -- so much of one that I never expect to see it. Not because of the potential developer issues (Nintendo has had others develop Mario games -- so Tt would be fine) but rather because it makes too much sense.

Thoughts on this or other games that should be or never will be?

Your son came up with a good idea but I think the idea of a "Lego" game is to make the game more 'kid-friendly' and Mario is already that. Example such as Lego Batman vs Batman AA, Starwars etc.
