I'm actually more curious how platform jumping sequels will do myself. I'm expecting stuff like DQX, Shiren 4 and Valkyria 2 may sell less than their predecessors...

Crystal Bearer bombed. This is what happen when they making too much FF. Why dont just stick with main series. 2-3 spin off per year is OK but going beyond that will decrease the franchise popularity. Unless all of them is great. Thats fine but the truth is only few of them is great (Crisis Core, Dissidia). Another reason could be its release date ttoo close to FFXIII. No one gonna buy spin off when big ones is just around the corner.

Crystal Chronicles had problems on top of that though (awful reviews, spinoff of a spinoff, not even an RPG, Kawazu).

It bombed, but its not the biggest bomb rly. SE didnt overship, and they actually expected the sell through, they even stated it was gna be hard to promote the game. Yeah us guys including me expected 100k+ FW, but what do we know

MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.

It sold under 200k.  For an original FF on DS, that's awful after how well the remakes sold.
