The Resident Evil franchise has sold over 40 million games across the last 13 and a half years, and Darkside Chronicles is the 3rd Resident Evil game on the Wii. The Resident Evil franchise has also had 3 movies, and each one has made over $100 million. Many of these games and all the movies have had huge advertising campaigns. Everybody knows what Resident Evil is. It's even on the DS. Darkside Chronicles is the sequel to the Wii's most successful rail shooter. Resident Evil games have recently broken 1 million sales on the Wii, the PS3, and the 360.
Dead Space: Extraction is the 2nd Dead Space game, and the 1st one on the Wii, or any Nintendo console for that matter. Dead Space games so far have not broken 1 million sales on the Wii, the PS3, or the 360. People probably see Dead Space at the store and go "Huh, looks like a neat Resident Evil rip-off."

You are correct sir! I just checked their site out of curiousity for the latest RE figures:
This site has RE4 on the PS2 at 3.05 million, while Capcom says they've only shipped 2.1 million copies.
According to this site, RE4 on the Wii is at 1.64 million, but only 1.6 million copies were ever shipped.
VGChartz says Umbrella Chronicles sold 1.3 million, but only 1.2 million shipped (which is a 100,000 more than I remembered!).
Well there's also a large group of RE fans on the Nintendo consoles. Happened ever since RE4 and therefore its been very noticeable through sales trends. That is why it has always been surprising RE5 wasn't ever made for the Wii considering that.
I still fail to see how a dead space spinoff is supposed to appeal to wii owners... I mean, it's not even a wii franchise ffs!

Dead Space Extraction had ads all over VGChartz, Gamespot, IGN, etc... It's not as if the game had no advertising at all.

LOL
Why are people saying it's because Resident Evil is a better game? I say this not because Gamerankings has DeadSpace as a full 10% higher on average, but because aside from reviews, how on earth would quality be a factor in a games first week sales? Considering the widespread complaints and concern about Darkside's swaying camera, I'd think that people would have a good reason to consider it a game of lesser quality before it's release.
It's pretty clear that the game just has a larger market on the Wii. There are over 2.5 million copies of previous RE games on the Wii, over 1 million of which belong to the game that Darkside Chronicles is a direct sequel to. There are no copies of Dead Space games on the Wii, and anyone who even likes the franchise is guaranteed to own one of the other consoles.
I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.
Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.
Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!
Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.
