Forums - Nintendo - So after playing MW2 was IW right the Wii just can't keep up?

Wii has a big user fanbase. And Red Steel sold more than 1 million copies! Its sequel will even be more popular! I don't understand why they say that, there's so lot potential with the Wii! It's even more enjoyable to create games with motion controls!

By now I'm sure many Wii owners have had a chance to play MW2 on HD or PC. I'm one of them. Looking back I remember hearing something from IW about how the Wii simply couldn't handle MW2 (despite all the exisiting COD's on Wii). After beating the game and having a great time doing it I'm a little confused. Nothing about this game is significantly more "epic" than Reflex (4) or W@W. Sure it looks great, and that would have to be toned down for Wii. But there seems to be no reason to have not dropped this on Wii. For once I'm gonna hop in the devs are lazy camp on this one. Who wants to bet those "twits" at Treyarch who always get shit are somehow able to do what IW wasn't in about 12 months?

Unrelated: the DC and especially Whitehouse levels really reminded me of the Conduit done right. Oh an Fallout 3.

Thank you for making this thread. People aren't always realizing the potential of the Wii. Gameplay is the most important thing in a game.

This is quite a popular comment, but I'm not sure it's always true. In quite a lot of games, the way you actually play isn't that great, yet the game overall is fantastic.

One of the better examples (in the Nintendo game category at least, Nintendo hasn't made many games with bad gameplay), might be OoT today. The fighting is actually rather dull by today's standards, or even the standards of late 5th gen. The analog stick wasn't as good as later games were, and overall, the gameplay wasn't that great. Still, that didn't keep it from still being a great game 3-4 years (or 10) after its release.

It was outclassed from a gameplay perspective, yet it was better than the other games. The gameplay wasn't that most important reason as to why the game was so brilliant.

Edit: Part of my post seems to have been cut off.

Another example is Okami, which had a lot of the same as OoT. The painting wasn't that great, nor was the fighting. All in all, "atmosphere" is often more important than gameplay.

What?!?!

The gameplay in OoT was amazing.  I have never heard anyone state otherwise.  Fighting is not the only part of gameplay.  A big part of the gameplay of Zelda games is exploration and puzzle solving.  I'm not sure what you are getting at with the comment about the analog stick, as that relates more to controls than gameplay.

You cannot perform gangsta style shootin' in HD versions.

.

It is impossible for IW to make such games on the Wii, because they don't have the Developer that can handle the Wii.

Let's face the facts: On the programming side the IW games are not very impressive (from the story side too). IWs success is founded in their ability to make good Multiplayer-Maps :)

You were saying?

Besides, I think the 'gangsta' style shooting is by far the dumbest thing to add to a shooter like CoD.

Sadly like a broken clock even a troll like you is right every now and then. Bravo.  16K+ posts of trolling Wii users must get boring at some point though- I would think. You certainly can't say you haven't enjoyed the Wii though- or at least bitching about it. In fact all those anti-Wii posts shows that you obviously can't find enough games to keep you busy on whatever console has the misfortune. I wish I had hour a day to troll forums about consoles I don't like frankly. Sadly work and family get in the way of all that.

You're going to have to define exactly what "gameplay" is. Controls have to fit in under "how the game plays".

Ugh, I'm afraid gameplay might be another "casual/core" word.

To me the single-player is the most important and MW2's is quite unimpressive. Bad controls ruins it

Just about. Although, my answer will change depending on the weapon be shot gangsta style.
