Forums - Sony - Last Remnant PS3 officially canned?

It looks like Square Enix has finally, and quietly, pulled the plug on the PlayStation 3 version of Last Remnant. The latest issue of the company's "Square Enix Magazine" retail promotional magazine does not list the title in its upcoming releases calendar.

The issue in question is vol.13, which features Final Fantasy XIII on the cover. A release calendar in the back of the issue lists titles of note from the company and its publishing/distribution partners (Ubisoft, Disney, and Taito). Last Remnant 2 is not listed in the date TBA area, which includes such games as The Third Birthday, NieR Gestalt/Remnant, and Front Mission Evolved.

The latest Square Enix Magazine.

There are a couple of things that should be noted before contacting your local representative about this issue. First, Last Remnant still appears in the PS3 release calendar at the Square Enix official site. Additionally, the game appears in the release calendar of the latest Weekly Famitsu.

It's also worth noting that I don't have access to my older issues of Square Enix Magazine at present (I'm away from home, where I've been collecting them -- sorry!) so I can't say for sure that previous issues of the magazine even listed the game.

The PS3 version of Last Remnant previously made headlines in August when Square Enix CEO Yoichi Wada made some subtle suggestions that the game would not make it out.

The 360 version of the game was released a little over one year ago, and was followed closely by a PC version.

Doesn't really matter. The game wasn't worth playing either way.

Too bad, if so. It had some of the best music I've heard in a game.

Rest in peace, big guy!

i thought people forgot about it.
too much for simultaneous release.

They can just buy the soundtrack then.  No need to play the actual game.

Time to Work !

It's garbage. They don't want to waste their time.

This really isin't a good game so why is everyone complaining?

I have it for 360, and played it for PC.

Its based on U3 Engine, so the chance to act worse then on 360 is very high, and it sucked technically at 360.

the framerate was under 15 in big Fights, and not really at 30 in cutscenes.  (but the PC Version works properly at every mid-class PC).

Its a funny game, but they made many mistakes, the framerate, plopping environment (AFTER the 30 second loading screens, you see every single texture plopping up ), bad facial animation in the later scenes, crazy-asshole Missions (<- there were 6!! Battles at the end, and every one of them took you easily 1 hour+, and if you lost, you were screwed.) and so on.

so if you really love strategic RPGs, you may be dissapointed by missing a decent game, but i dont think its a big loss.

(and by the way, im sure SE said that they cancelled TLR on PS3 almost a year ago.)

edit:

lol funny ..SE is publishing Arkham Asylum and Modern Warfare 2 for Japan. :D

I'm a Foreigner, and as such, i am grateful for everyone pointing out any mistakes in my english posted above - only this way i'll be able to improve. thank you!

If this game was unplayable on the 360/PC which are much easier platforms to develop games on. Being able to improve the game to be able to run on the PS3 is mission impossible.
