There isn't figures on exactly the money they made/lost on the console itself just the company as a whole and because the PS2 was sold at a big loss they didn't profit for a while and when they did it didn't stack up to the profits Nintendo made the whole generation, Nintendo is the only console company that simply doesn't have losses on their record.

Nintendo has to stay 1st party. Their games deserve their own platform and shouldn't play second fiddle to some stupid uber-realistic shooter.
If they ever ended up like Sega then I might just take my own life.
I always thought that Sony using the tactics of selling HW at a lose to drive out competition. But we all know how that turn out for them.
PSP may very well be what force Nintendo to do things differently and that's how we ended up with the DS.
If they tank and had to scrap the hardware divisions, then they would make software for ps360, the games would be hits, then they would also sell games that require a peripheral, then that will become a hit and then they would have enough money to invest and invent a new console! All those that made their games a hit on ps360 would then buy that console!! :)
| Joelcool7 said: Here I'll make it simple. if Nintendo stopped making consoles they would stop making games. Miyamoto and Iwata both stated the day Nintendo stops making consoles is the day Nintendo stops making games. |
If it came to that point, maybe Iwata and some others would quit, but investors would certainly pressure them into making some form of video games.

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.
If you rearrange the letters in Nintendo, it spells Natal (amazing, I know). Does that answer your question?

i guess that the day nintendo drops out of HW business there will be a major auction for microsoft and sony to buy them and the one who will have them on their side is the one that know they will win every generation.
N64 is the ONLY console of the fifth generation!
