^Didn't people say that NSMB Wii wouldn't push sales of the Wii only to be proven wrong last week?

Didn't people say that MH3, WSR, WF+ will push sales of Wii only to be proven wrong over following months ?

I say 70k.

If I remember correctly MH3 did push Wii sales up for a week.

For 3 weeks significantly, first week actually over 3 times the week before.

WSR and WF+ dind't manage great bumps but I think some k of sales are because of these games, even if not the same numbers of the western markets.

Iwata mentioned they didn't expect a "bump" from WSR, but it'd help contribute to raising the baseline.  Which it might've very well done, but that's difficult to prove out.

Ya know, they do actually have Christmas in Japan.
Why wouldn't consoles sell more?

They give gifts for the new year, but that generally doesn't ramp up until another 2 weeks or so.  FFXIII week should be the real start of the major shopping season in Japan, though the next two weeks should see a nice rise in everyone's baseline leading up to it (with proportionately bigger bumps for Wii due to software releases).

well i was gunna go for 42k so im wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy off

Actually Japanese Christmas is a very commercial holiday.

However, 99% of the gifts are bought for children, so there's your answer.

Exactly what I think, but you can see that in the WSR launch week in AMericas and Others the Wii had a bump, while in Japan it went up just by 6-7 k. Still I think WSR and WF+ will help the sales in the long run, more WSR than WF+ (that is selling mostly to existing users).

CURRENTLY PLAYING: Xenoblade (Wii), Super mario 3D land (3DS), Guild Wars (PC)

Japan is pretty unpredictable, so, I'm not going to bet on it

although if I were to go with a prediction, I'd say 83,000

What he said, but bump me down to 75k for this week, with increases not arriving until next week.

Dont forget that the SW3 bundle on its own should increase sales by 15k, and i'm guessin holiday boosts will play a role. So i would say 60k without NSMB, thats why i'm betting it will go over 100k. Thats my opinion at least

Oh yeah, I agree with that.  In fact, Wii hardware sales kept increasing week over week after WSR for 3-4 weeks iirc (then MH3 hit).

WF+ seems like it's geared more towards existing owners, but I think it's also basically going to replace WF's monthly 300-500k to new buyers.  It's more like a Sports update than a sequel imo, less complimentary and more repositioning.

An extra 40-50k still seems like a lot imo.  I think there'd be a better chance if there were a NSMBW specific branded bundle.  A Red Wii+NSMBWii bundle would've been huge.
