Forums - Gaming - Who remembers RE:Outbreak?

If you remember this game then you must remember the online feature. It was outrageously awesome. You got the chance t be a zombie and to make your own story, too bad they killed the servers for the game. What's your opinion do you think they should bring this game back multiplatform?

They killed the servers at the exact same time they killed monster hunters. But yeah i remember, pretty much a "before l4d" By the way you can still play online with RE outbreak using Xlink Kai

CURRENTLY PLAYING:  Warframe, Witcher 2

I remember, it was pretty cool. The controls were pretty bad and thats why I could never pass the hardest difficulty in some levels. I heard that the online was great but I never tried it.

i cant get x link kai to work for me but the online was really good i am wndering if they are thinking of bringing it back if they do that would be really exciting i think it was a wonderful game.

The loading times were greatly reduced when you had the hard drive (my brother had this game).  I thought it was a really good idea that was only hurt by the lack of headset option.  Other than that it was the precurser to L4D in my opinion (4 players online trying to survive after a zombie/monster outbreak).  They killed the servers?  That sucks, they did the same for a couple games that I had on the original xbox (sega GT, Unreal, and jedi academy)

I remember this one well, especially the unmoderated lobbies, but I digress. The Outbreak games had some really amazing ideas marred by sloppy execution. The controls where like trying to maneuver a 747 with one engine, the lack of headset communication made sections like "decisions, decisions" and which floor the team would meet at in the hospital , a nightmare. Load times weren't much of an issue with the hdd add on. My biggest complaint where the constant cinemas which unnecessarily broke up the action and tension of the moment. Even with these caveates, when Outbreak got things right, it was really good. The tension and anxiety was palpable, there's nothing like getting seperated from your team and being left isolated in a B.O.W infested maze, the only signs of life from your teamates being the muffled sounds of gunfire heard through the walls. In that regard, maybe not having vocal communication is better after all.

I remember the game, not having the network add-on, and going through long load times.
