Forums - Sony Discussion - PS3 Selling 1 MILLION in 1 Week - Looking LIKELY?

avinash... you lack logic. Every year there are fantastic bundles from retailers and manufacturers... and every year hardware sales rise in Dec....

Around the Network

Come on, the discussions about PS3 being able to hit 1 Million in one week.

Not Wii sales. (Unless you want to compare sales of PS3 this year and Wii last year)

Please stay on topic

^Not really, it's down but only by a small amount, the Price cut and NSMB boosted sales by a lot, and it may still manage to break a million WW this week

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

Nope, In NA after black Friday sales dip and then rise again for the weekend before Christmas, those are the two biggest shopping periods of the year in NA, now WW we see rises at some points due to gains in others and Japan, however the point is, PS3 sales were inflated by the bundles, there may be others, but not as impressive as these ones, so PS3 sales will dip from this peak this week in NA, that means only the weekend before Christmas has a chance of getting to this level for PS3 in NA, and even if it does, that still leaves 500K in Others and Japan for PS3, no certain deal there either, so like I said, its possible but not likely.

You have seriously lawed logic.

A. NA =/= WW. Why would it matter if sales decrease in NA if they increase WW... this isn't asking if the Ps3 will break 1 million in NA alone.

B. Every year each console gets bundles from retails and 360 and ps3 get manufacture bundles... and each year the systems raise in sales.

C. Inflated? How the fuck do you figure? If Sony didn't launch those bundles people still would have wanted a Ps3 and bought one from another retailer who had a good enough bundle. It's not as if the people buying now are impulse buying. Pewople shopping on BF have their gift lists and sales all figured out

So, last year the PS3 went up even with it severely lacking in customer demand compared to wii and 360. What are you basing this "chance of getting to BF levels" on? When in the past its shown that the leading consoles seems to go up considerable in the states because its shown there is higher demand for those products in correlation to BF.

So what exactly are you basing it not reaching BF levels? You cant say bundles since theres bundles every year, its moot.

I mentioned that in the OP.

Last year Wii, 360 and PS3 all saw higher sales on the big week than BF despite whatever bundles were offered. The same is VERY likely to happen again this year. Could be as high as what... 550k in NA alone?

I think 450k from Japan + Others combined is definately possible.

Though I wont comment on if the Ps3 will cross a million I'd say Europe alone would at least double Ps3's sales of NA. So if your logic tells you 500k for Christmas week in America then I'd say its probable to hit 1 million with just others.

Top is america.

Interesting...

Maybe i missed something when i was doing the OP.

If it can hit 1 Million without Japan, then that will be VERY impressive.
