HD Twins is a verys imple way of saying PS360 as 90% of their libraries are the same

no consoles have shared such a similar amount of games

I will continue to use that term......please don't take offense of it anyone....I don't mean it in a bad way it just sounds cool

If you like the term, more power to you, I just think it's an inaccurate term. The 360 and PS3 do not feel like one platform, in fact, they never have.

well as long as you know I don't mean it in a bad way its ok

+ I know I don't mean it in a troll way, PS360 are two of the best consoles EVER made....calling them similar to eachother is a compliment

"HD twins" sounds better than saying "PS360"

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

@cgi

they are smiliar

they share many many game that look almost identical

they have a smiliar approach to online gaming

and I struggle to think of two consoles as similar as the PS3 and 360 in any of the last 3 gens.

And still, they aren't "twins", no matter how similar they are. They are different enough to not be considered "the same". The term is implying that the two don't do enough that is different from each other to NOT be classified as one platform, and you obviously agree. So be it, but my point remains: they aren't "twins". When I'm playing games on my 360, it doesn't feel like I'm playing a PS3 and vice versa. If anything, the exclusives REALLY help to show that the platforms are vastly different. NO game I've played on 360 feels like LBP, as no game on PS3 feels like Left 4 Dead.

The plaforms are different, the term "HD Twins" is invalid.

No... they are mostly the same.

The term is perfectly valid.

Plenty of identical twins have small differences that set them apart.  For example Tiki and Ronde Barber.

They're identical twins, yet have enough differences that you can tell them apart.

Tiki is much more media savvy, and he's an NFL Runningback vs Ronde who is an NFL CB and a little more serious.

They're actually more different then the HD Twins... and they're identical twins.

No Kaz, they are not the same. Unlike the Barbers, two different companies make them, they don't look the same, the only difference is outside people threat them the same way. They may have things in common, but very different nonetheless.

They don't look the same but they do things about 95% the same... which is was the term twins usually means in such regards.

Hence, twins.

It's REALLY obvious and undeniable.

They're twins and the PS2 and Xbox weren't because of the Wii.

The wii really stretched out what the definition of a system was... and those two are narrowly next to each other, more similar then most actual real lif twins.

Have you never seen two people who look different but do the same job the same way be reffered to as twins?  It happens all the time in everything.

Either that or one i dubbed a "mini" version of the other.

I somehow doubt you and CGI would be happy with the alternative being the PS3 dubbed the "Mini 360."

Which is the actual alternative in jargon.

HD twins is a lucky branding in thsi regard.

@kowen

If They are truly "twins" then there would be no need for people to have both the ps3 and xbox 360 at the same time.
And even if u think they are twins, take this for example, do u think sleeping with a twin sister makes u know how good the other twin sister is in bed?

The only thing they share is 3rd party support, that's it. Their online is different, their controls, their exclusives are different, their community is different.

Soon with Natal, things will be even more different.

Getting the same support from third party doesn't make them the same, the Wii would have gotten it too if Nintendo created a more powerful console.

Playing the PS3 and 360 even the same game is a very different experience.

Is it illegal to talk positively about your competitor.

Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.

Playing the PS3 and 360 even the same game is a very different experience.

Mmmm... if you say so.

3rd party support = 80% of what peopel care about... at least.

As for the PS3 being the "Mini PS3."

That's the other Jargon.

Either two things that are that similar are "twins" or one is a "Mini" something else.  Like when Basketball players are reffered to as "Mini Jordans."

It's one or the other.  Be happy with the one you got.

Good for Sony to see some momentum. They were definitely struggling earlier this year, so it's nice to see 'em doing well now-a-days.

As for Wii... eh. Some will beat their chests at how it's losing momentum, others will do the same at how it's still selling like mad. The world keeps on a-spinning. *shrugs*

We should add the PC when we say twins as well, they do share most games as well, and the PC does better HD.
