Forums - Nintendo Discussion - EA Montreal shifting focus away from Wii games

So let me get this straight:
EA Montreal

  • Released one late spin-off to a game that sold less than 900k multiplatform (Skate It)
  • One Boogie game and its cash-in sequel
  • A bare-bones Need for Speed based off Hot Wheels that came out more than a month after the traditional HD counterparts
  • SSX Blur, THE worst console SSX ever.

Hey now... leave SSX Blur alone!  That game was great!

I don't usually do this, but I went by Metacritic for SSXB and it was the lowest rated of all SSX games. I've only played the almighty SSX Tricky and SSX3.

If that was your only issue, I guess you agreed with everything else!?!?! :)

^ Yeah, I agreed with all your other points. I'm willing to bet that Blur scored lower because Wii noob reviewers couldn't tackle the motion controls.  It did have a learning curve, but it paid off in the end.

Well, that is a valid issue as well.

Hmm.... well it didn't sell too well either. That's all I got that coincides with my point lol

Support is support, so I'm sure some gamers will miss them. Personally though, I couldn't care less. Not a single one of their games has interested me.

I liked skate it D:
Oh well. They make bad games otherwise *cough* Boogie (which surprisingly sold a lot) *cough*

lol at the overly defensive people in this thread... you know so much better than the company

EA is gonna bleed so much more cash with their new "blockbuster HD games".

Army of Two did good for them, why will the sequel do badly?

Ea is the third party that invested the most into the Wii in 2009 and the one having the worse financial year......

So now you're trying to blame that on the Wii, huh?

All I'm saying is that they are the one major US publisher that halfway through this gen did try to change their strategy and do more for the Wii support, maybe it wasn't the right games, maybe it was too late, but it sure did not work out well and now they are going to cut their loss while they still can...

That's because most of their Wii games sucked, can't remember the last EA game on Wii that I actually was interested in, I know I haven't bought any EA games on Wii.

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

If they're cutting their losses then they'd cut the HD Twins as well.  It seems nothing is working out for EA, HD games included.
