Well next generation when all consoles have precise motion control technology and IR pointers (or some new control method we have yet to see) I see the RTS finally moving to consoles as the inherent controller limitations will no longer be there.

As for mmo's, if MS and Sony start bundling keyboards and mice or something akin to that with their next gen consoles mmo's will also make the jump to consoles. Seeing as how their trying to make consoles multimedia hubs a k&m would go a long way to establishing consoles as the internet hub device in the living room.

I see PC gaming existing in the future as the place where independent developers and individuals making low budget unique games go. I feel as though the big budget games will move almost exclusively over to consoles.

So you are saying that they will become even more like PCs. Maybe they will stop charging for online and open the platforms up to the communities as well and stop half-assing PC features.

Tell me how many adventure or simulation games are there on consoles. Combine all the RPG games and Strategy games oin all consoles and it will come far shorter than the amount PC has.

Well isnt Trails 3 a freebie? So i guess we'll never know how much money the developers made by spreading it throughout the interwebs. Marketing and licence fees > single purchases.

...and he suggested 'all PCs needs is MMOs and RTS'.  There goes your monopoly and variety.

RPGs and Strategy i can agree with though. Theres basicly no Strategy games on consoles, Halo Wars maybe the only title that works okay. And as for RPGs, Consoles controls are often the main issue here. RPGs on PCs plays better in 8/10 games.

Mass Effect and Dragon Age being the recent ones that had an enhanced experience when the controls were in order.

Adventure though? Nah. Uncharted and the PS3 basicly has monopoly on that one.

umh about MMOs... the genre could very well work on consoles... they are not different than games like oblivion or dragon age and these work well on consoles.
FPS was proven to be popular on consoles.
All that is left is RTS... well i'm sure a controler will come that will enable wiimote IR with more buttons for versatility... then you'll see deeper RTSes on consoles.

Not saying any of these would be better on consoles, just that they could be mass market on them and thus drive sales away from PC... so no, they are not exclusive forever to PC.

MMO and RTS really is all PC does better than consoles.

I guess no matter how popular consoles get, PC will always be there though even though PC gamers are becoming the minority.

The fact you think that Draogn Age works ok on consoles just shows that you honestly don't knwo what actually "ok" is. It works like shit on consoles and it is dumbed dwn in every way compared to the PC version. The same way MMOs would be annihilated on a console. The same thing applies to FPSes, just because you don't know any better you think it works ok when in fact it works like crap.
