That's the exact thing that will and is killing it.  A lack of variety and everyone just focusing on the 'next best' game in only 2 genres (more like one genre, MMOs).

RTS isn't even that big anymore, its MMOs and FPS.

Lack of variety?! PC has the monopoly on 4 whole genres(adventure, simulation, strategy and RPG), and Action games are the most popular on PC. Tell me how many adventure or simulation games are there on consoles. Combine all the RPG games and Strategy games oin all consoles and it will come far shorter than the amount PC has.
