Forums - Gaming - Xbox and Nintendo Loyalist's, How Does it Feel to See Sony and their.......

no way this thread will end well. Done and gone.

...

Around the Network

This thread was only intended to bash Sony, and bringing Nintendo into this thread was almost used as a buffer of acceptance. This thread is used to fill a ill-concieved fanboy's ego.

"Life is but a gentle death. Fate is but a sickness that results in extinction and in the midst of all the uncertainty, lies resolve."

I don't enjoy seeing both fall and fail, but its their fault that the 360 was extremely crappy in durability and quality. Its sonys fault also for making an expensive console that was almost a disaster (and im putting that delicately) til they reduced its hardware costs.

.......Playstation in Third place.

I for one love it. FINALLY! Sony and their Playstation are where they belong, in third place, why do I feel that way?

I feel that way because I believe that the company that innovates the most should be in first place, this generation it was Nintendo.

and then Microsoft with their Online service.

Sony in my eyes have never bought any innovation to the gaming industry, not that it is their fault they are a hardware company, but, Sony has always acted like they were the best thing to come to the gaming industry, when they clearly are NOT, if you disagree with me, show me where Sony has innovated.

DISCUSS AWAY.

I couldn't care less who's in the lead.  I'm curious though, if Sony never innovates nor is the weakest player, how the heck did the PS1 and PS2 sell so well vs Nintendo and MS?  And what does that speak to Nintendo and MS consistency?

If I'm annoyed at anything it's:

1 - shift of PC gaming to console and loss of mods, open communities to gated, corporate driven approaches

2 - the dearth of decent SP campaigns in FPS now that the genre has turned into a repetitive online contest

Oh, and the Credit Crunch, but that's off topic.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

What I would like is to see MS in third place for a couple of reasons.

1-In order to compete they brought windows-software-like reliability to game hardware
2-They use a software-like model of propietary add-ons or "hardware patches" (wi-fi, HDD, HDMI, etc.), making it seems like it is a cheap console, wich it is if you are buying the "Home Basic" edition of your 360....wich you probably will "update".

I dislike both things, and those are the true MS innovations...apart from paying to be online.

But that is talking about principles. I won't discuss the game libraries because I don't own a Wii nor a X360. Other than that, responding specifically to the OP, I don't think innovation is a reason enough, not every innovative thing is good, or more correctly, not everyone has to like them. Is clear now that the Wii was designed with a broad audience in mind and, happily for Nintendo, they succeded at that, but I have tried it and didn't like it, period. Quite innovative, but not my cup of tea.
I enjoyed both PS1 and PS2, and I'm very fond of a lot of their franchises, so why the hell wouldn't I want the PS3. To say that Sony has never been innovative or worst, that they never were the best (they WERE and ARE for many people) is a little silly.
I like Nintendo, really. But once I jumped to the PS1, there was no reason for me for turning back (except for Metroid Prime, for wich I bought a GC a couple of years ago).
