Well Sony game into the video game industry because Nintendo would not implement CD in the Nintendo 64. PS1 was launched and won that generatiomn confortably over Nintendo 64 outselling it by 3 to 1 due to the CD which were much cheaper to produce and Sony bought up third party development studios and money hatted.

PS2 was a cheap DVD player and was the peak of Sony's console dominance. and continued on the success of PS1. PS1 and PS2 have sold around 250 million consoles in total over 15 years.

The PS3 has struggled due to Sony losing billions of dollars by investing a lot of money into Blu-Ray, Cell processor, Sony has underestimated its competitors in both Nintendo and Microsoft

Microsoft is now doing to what Sony did to Nintendo. What comes around goes around. Anyway its good to see decent competition in the video game market.
