I still think "remake" is a bit of an exaggeration, but as I said, I'll be glad to be proven wrong when the game is released.

It's definitely not a proper sequel. If you look at the Japanese titles, the original is called "Argus no Senshi", and the remake/update is called "Argus no Senshi: Muscle Impact". I think it's very clever to use a totally new main character to distract people from the fact that they've already played this game.

I just watched the video interview on Gamespot, and the guy was talking about "new modes, new enemies, new attacks" and how they were trying to make the graphics a little more crisp than on the PS2.

But where did anyone actually say this is a remake? If they don't, then those comments could just be about comparing the last game with this one. If it is a remake, then where is any official word on it?



A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

If this game sells well, Tecmo will create Tecmo Bowl Wii. Jk, I wish though!!!

I have been keeping my eye on Rygar. If Tecmo does a good job on it, I will buy it. I remember the NES and Atari Lynx versions of the game.



I thought Ninja Gaiden was Wii's Ninja Gaiden? Ninja Gaiden II??

Okay, okay...this looks interesting, but I'm also on the "low expectations" list.

"1UP: OK, so my first major question for you is why are you basing this on a five year-old PS2 game? It seems like you're going through so much trouble to create a new control scheme that lets you whip the Diskarmor using the Wii Remote, you redesigned the character, and you're creating new enemies and bosses, and you're redoing a lot of the graphics. It seems like if you were going to go through this much trouble then you might as well have made a whole new game.

KK: My game-making philosophy has always been to focus on one thing, and build the game around that one main theme. For instance with Fatal Frame it was horror, it was a scary game and the whole game was built around that one big theme. So in the case of a new Rygar, my focus was on how to best utilize the Wii control. Everything is built around the Diskarmor control using the Wii controller. Of course I could have started everything from scratch on a new Rygar project, but if I was to do that it might not have been on Wii, we could have done it for PS3, 360, PS2. However, why we focused on Wii was because of what we could do with the Wii controller. Because of that, even though the game may be based on a five year-old game, as you call it, it will still feel very fresh and very unique on the Wii system. That way I can focus on that one important thing.

It's not a port or a remake. I think someone else summed it up best as a Wii "adaptation."

This is why we need original Wi games built from ground up like Zak and Wiki to succeed, I guess the Wii isn't worth their time for a whole new game. At least if this proves to be a good port (and it is a port imo) then games like RE4, this etc is at least setting the standards for Wii ports.
