Forums - Gaming - Do Sony and Microsoft stand a chance?

Next year will see the launch of the Wand and Natal but do either controller methods actually stand a chance in the face of Nintendo's brute force? Next year its WiiMotionPlus/VitalitySensor V.S Natal and Sony's crappy wand toy. Whether its an amazing new camera or what looks like a plastic dog toy Sony and Microsoft are getting ready to unleash casual hell, at least they think they are. So lets look at what the big three have in store for next year.

Let me go into details, as we know today Nintendo plans to launch Mario Galaxy 2, KirbyWii , Metroid and the next Zelda for 2010. Nintendo also plans to unleash its newest secret weapon the Vitality Sensor with most likely a Wii franchise title to back it up. Thats just the titles we know about not even including Nintendo's big secrets saved for E3 2010. Nintendo has vested millions in launching WiiMotionPlus and the next Zelda will utalize Motion Plus to the max.

Microsoft is launching Halo Reach to compete with the likes of Link. But already a notable Natal project has been cancelled months into development by Rare. Many estimate that up to 14 titles will launch alongside Natal to really push the new media platform. But is that enough for Natal and Halo Reach to outperform Nintendo and Sony come Christmas 2010?

Sony's line up is about as good as Microsoft's with big titles like God Of War III and M.A.G. However unlike Microsoft and Natal it appears Sony is going to launch the Wand in the spring and only one title has been confirmed to use it, what title you ask. Well Resident Evil 5 a game that has already been out a year. Can the Wand even stand a chance against WiiMotion Plus?

So their you have it all three companies known 2010 line-ups. Can Sony's God Of War and Microsoft Halo Reach stand a chance against the likes of Link Mario and Kirby?

Sales wise, not likely

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

in answer to the thread title.. i reckon so. so many people have a PS3 or a 360, all it takes is the promise of one good game.. then someone buys it "just to see", then word of mouth gets around.. then before you know it, everyone is bigging up the Wand/Natal of course there will be your bog-standard novelty crap released, but i think the fact that Sony, for instance, are said to have announced only one game with Wand compatibility is a good thing... different gamers want different things, so it looks to me like Sony will be releasing more standard-controller games. Yay XD

Nintendo never said they will release Zelda Wii for 2010, probably a trailer at E3 next year thats it lol

'We know today Nintendo plans to launch Zelda in 2010'...? XD Where do people come up with this stuff? :p

Miyamoto said it was on course for a Christmas 2010 release. later on Reggie and Iwata both stated they weren't commiting to a 2010 release. However Miyamoto said it was on track and that means it is highly likely we'll see it next year. Especially when Sony's Wand and Microsoft Natal are both on the market. Nintendo will want their crown jewel in the WiiMotionPlus line up to be present as a competitor!

i think Natal is going to make the Wii Very Uninteresting , but thats just me

Atto Suggests...:

Book - Malazan Book of the Fallen series

Game - Metro Last Light

TV - Deadwood

Music - Forest Swords

People phased by Natal/Wand are focused on the technology.

When successful competitors enter a market, they split it amongst themselves. Nintendo will find new opportunities to create a market for them unrelated to motion. Sony and Microsoft are not only late to the game, they'll be fighting over and sharing a turf that will be fundamentally smaller by the time they get there.

Funny how you don't even hide your preference by bashing Sony's motion control, even though we basically know bo diddly about it :)

oh ok, i guess that makes sence, i was just stating how reggie said " we never said there was gonna be zelda wii next year" he said that in GTTV last week... reggie is pretty good at denying stuff so i guess it could happen.
