What are the chances of Final Fantasy XIII not getting a perfect score?

Very low.

Pixel Art can be fun.

If only Famitsu scores meant anything nowadays.

Ah well, it's still a great game.

Not saying that NSMBW didn't deserve this, but devaluation of game reviews rating system sure is common trend. All these 40/40 from Famitsu and 90+ smth from western media make those ratings more useless than they used to be. That's why I like Edge, no matter what everyone says.

Well, I'm happy about the score, but at the same time it's hard to appreciate as much since Famitsu have vastly ramped up their perfect scores lately. What is it, with this one, 7 in the last two years?

According to Wikipedia:

  1. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (1998, Nintendo, for Nintendo 64)
  2. Soulcalibur (1999, Namco, for Dreamcast)
  3. Vagrant Story (2000, Square Co., Ltd., for PlayStation)
  4. The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker (2003, Nintendo for Nintendo GameCube)
  5. Nintendogs (2005, Nintendo, for Nintendo DS)
  6. Final Fantasy XII (2006, Square Enix, for PlayStation 2)
  7. Super Smash Bros. Brawl (2008, Nintendo, for Wii)
  8. Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots (2008, Konami, for PlayStation 3)
  9. 428: Fūsa Sareta Shibuya de (2008, Sega, for Wii)
  10. Dragon Quest IX (2009, Square Enix, for Nintendo DS)
  11. Monster Hunter Tri (2009, Capcom, for Wii)
  12. Bayonetta (2009, Sega, for Xbox 360)
  13. New Super Mario Bros. Wii (2009, Nintendo, for Wii)

So yes, over half of the perfect scores they've handed out have come in the past two years.

Does anyone know what 428 is? This is the first I've heard of it.

More perfect scores in 2008-09 than in 1998-2006

Those guys make IGN look like the academy awards and that's saying something

Some murder mystery, or detective game of some sort I believe. Similar to Hotel Dusk.

First 11 years, no perfect scores. Next 10 years, 6 perfect scores, last two years, 7 perfect scores.

Something is very wrong with that. Then again, I haven't read Famitsu, Haven't played most of the games they score, and I haven't read any of the japanese game magazines at all, so I'm not really in a position to judge.

A visual mystery novel or something like that for Wii. I believe it got ported to PS3 later.

I think we're at the end times. Famitsu is just giving perfect scores like crazy, what's up with that?
