This sounds good, but doesn't beat youtube walkthroughs ^^

Because too many people can't figure shit out for themselves and instead like everything handed to them. I call that cheating. |
And this would be for those people. You just admitted there are people looking for something, and this would be for them. It has an audience and a use, so we can agree that it is something that would be useful. Good.
| superchunk said: Nintendo's solution is better and far more complex from a development point of view. MS is just adding a wiki to the game, Nintendo actually provided a way to visualize how to get past the issue quickly and allow the user to jump right back into the action. |
And yet I somehow feel that MS's idea will be more useful (assuming that they can overcome the problem that all user generated content databases must, that of the good gettting buried in a sea of swill. Here's hoping)
MS's idea has the advantage of being more versatile - Super Guide shows you how to get to the end of the level, xboxwiki shows you how to do that, as well as how to get other things such as achievements, alternate routes, collectibles, find exploits and easter eggs etc.
If users can upload pictures and video with commentary then this will antiquate gamefaqs
I wouldn't use it much, but this seems pretty cool. It's also FAR more versatile than the super guide. And it's more 'self-sustaining' since it relies on user-generated content (in a sense) game developers don't HAVE to do anything for it (if they want to though, they can). With the super guide, the developer has to do EVERYTHING (so higher production costs?).
Also, this vs. gamefaqs is just a matter of convenience. I personally use gamefaqs to 100% stuff,
not because I get stuck.
Still, seems like a cool idea. There would have to be some kind of rating system, or 'best answer' system though.
if they did this they would have to keep a moderator on it to make sure there are no spoilers or anything, that could ruin a game very fast

I both agree and disagree. Anyone who looks up guides for games knows they are taking a chance at coming across spoilers. Sometimes there are spoiler warnings, and sometimes not. Sometimes walkthrough guides are 'spoiler free' and sometimes not. Maybe users could also judge a guide as 'spoiler-free' or not.

Why should hardcore female gamers have more problems in a game than me ?
Nowadays games are already much easier. If you're not skilled enough to beat a certain part of the game, then turn down the difficulty setting.
Halo & CoD on easy are a walk in the park. You probably don't even have to shoot anyone to complete the level (well of course unless you have to kill them to proceed) Football games like PES on the lowest settings are a joke etc.
In 95% of all games no one needs a Super Guide or whatever. If a lil kid can't beat a certain game which is made for his age group, then the devs did a bad job.
