Could they be doing a controller that is only controlled by the mind?! that could be costly and dangerous though.

You're being sarcastic right?

He probably is. However if they succeed, Nintendo would be playing catch-up to them. It's not in the realm of the impossible.

The situation where Nintendo is driving the progress is the one Nintendo wants.

My statment was mostly sarcasm only the rest refered to future tech.

Good ol Shiggy, he's playing it cool.

If Nintendo gets 4+ years in lead time over the others on each new interface technology that actually pushes hardware (e.g. HD doesn't count, motion control does) then that's a lot of time in which you can be profitable with no effective competition. This trend is actually good for Nintendo. The danger would be if MS/Sony came out with something that Nintendo hadn't thought of but successful on the level of the Wiimote, first.

I honestly don't see that happening from either company, as they've never done so before. Sony originally took their lead by shelling out cash (loss on hardware / advertising budget), international presence, different advertising (focus on teens and up), and most importantly, better relations with third parties.

After seeing what Nintendo is capable of (the DS and Wii), though, I imagine it won't take them as long as 4 years to copy next time.

Yeah, agreed. I'm just saying that's Nintendo's biggest threat. Not that it's likely; MS/Sony still haven't realised their way will never make business sense.

He is right about the uniqness going away if all 3 had motion devices.

Not so much. Nintendo's motion is still quite different from Sony's motion and Microsoft's motion.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

I'm actually talking about could happen in the year between 2020 - 2025, but as of now they could be doing something that's ont notch higher than motion controllers, mind controlling is many years in the future.

The brain is rather complex, however they already have a mind reading machine for some patients in the hospital. They have them constantly think "up" or "down" and the cursor goes up or down depending on brain activity. They are planning on using a simple device for a remote control for your tv soon. I predict 2013-15 release for the remote.

No matter what Nintendo does, others will follow them.

It's been like that since... forever?

I love Nintendo and their philosophy.

They already have something unique. That blood pressure sensor thingy.
