Nah. Snake died on that tanker in New York at the beginning of MGS2. But he was at the Big Shell as well......

Um... reading comprehension much? He says "after MGS4", not "during" or "in the end of" or anything like that.

Ah, I took it to mean that he was left dying at the end of the game, and this 'took place' afterward.  My bad.

By the way, it's possible to correct someone without insulting them.

So did he die or not?  I've never played MGS4 so I'd like to know if that's a spoiler.

The line in the OP doesn't accurately portray the ending of the game at all, so it is not a spoiler.
