Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo failed to deliver!

Alright I am officially pissed off, Since the announcment of BattalionWarsII I have been waiting patiently for the news feed footage reviews and information to start flowing. However Nintendo doesn't seem to give a crap about the series failing to deliver in every possible way.

News and footage was flying in during Liepzeg last year. Nintendo Power had a huge section and the game got excellent coverage and then suddenly it slipped into oblivion. Not being seen or heard of in much capacity untill E for All where a playable version was supposedly present. Nintendo failed to hype the game up in any way other then confirming that the game would be online.

Nintendo only openned the website last week 5-days before BattalionWars is supposed to hit shelves. The website is alright but way too late, the release of the site wasn't hyped much either barely even getting mention on Nintendo.com. The online community shuttered at how poorly Nintendo was managing its franchises by leaving everything to litterily last minute.

Well I review video games for a newspaper (Abbotsford Times) with over 110,000 readers. My review of BattalionWars2 is due by 9 O'clock tommorow. But Nintendo screwed me over I go in the morning to pick up my pre-order from EBGames and they said the game was delayed and will be released on the 30th however according to the employee he said he didn't expect it to arrive untill about Friday.

So I frantically checked the following retailers so I could get my copy and review the game on time!

Walmart

RealCanadianSuperstore

FutureShop

Zellers

(Another EBGames)

WillowVideoGames

RogersVideo

BlockBusterVideo

But nobody has a single dang copy in. Many said they didn't know why while others claimed the same thing EBGames did that the game has been delayed till Tommorow or later this week.

Well Nintendo really screwed this one up. They failed to publicize the game, the failed to deliver on a website, they failed to hype the game in any way shape or form , they failed to improve the game visually over the GameCube version and they failed to even deliver the game on time.

Nintendo really screwed BWII up, I mean they couldn't even ship the copies on the right day they had to delay it, (By one day) what the heck. Now how do I review the freaking game, my editor is gonna be pissed and I'm gonna get balled out. My reviews are due Tuesday mornings but now I can't get the dang game till Tuesday morning!

Anyone else getting seariously sick of Nintendo's performance when it comes to efficiency? Their games are always top notch but their ability to get those games to the public is dismal at best. Did Nintendo actually deliver in your country or area or is this really a day delay?

How were you going to review a game with only a few hours of play-time?

Few Hours, I was going to pull an all nighter. I usually play a game about 20+ hours before reviewing it, would be pushing it close but I don't fail to deliver. I beat Halo3 within the launch day and reviewed it for the paper too really quickly.

Example I will be reviewing Mario:Galaxy for November 28th because Mario games take longer then a week to beat. Hopefully two weeks will be enough for me to have beaten the game and reviewed it. I beat the first BattalionWars (Not crunching it) in about 3 days playing only a couple hours a day. So 20 or so hours should have been sufficient

That being said I don't always fully beat games before reviewing. After about 20-hours of play if I haven't beaten the game yet I do have a very good idea as to the games quality which is infact what a review is isn't it? When you review something you are telling other people what the quality of the product is!

@Desroko he was gonna play all night

Why don't you just write some crap about a celebrity it sells as hotcakes

My dog is way beyond my ranking list than you.

I don't know about you, but I never find new games on time here in Calgary. It's always Wednesday or Thursday before they're available.

lol...I'm sure your editor knows the way the system works...most journalist always have something on the fire or a backup story to run in just such a situation. So if their delay caused you to miss the boat then I'm sure you'll think of something.

Perhaps an editorial about release dates would be fitting. Of course, just writing a "The Sky is Falling and Nintendo are the Cause" probably wouldn't be smart, since they're not the only ones to miss a release date here and there. Similarily a commentary on Nintendo's lack of advertising probably wouldn't do either, considering that Cassamassina already did that with Metroid.

Did you know that many mega sites and publications don't get advanced copies of games? The reason: the games are generally terrible and they don't want a bunch of bad press to kill the game. Maybe this is just such a game. On the other hand I saw the boys at IGN wearing the helmets that they got from the Batallion Wars swag bag, so maybe you're just not in the loop.

But really...do you think being a week late on a review is going to hurt anything. You could always review Zack and Wiki.

I only do movie and game reviews. I refused to review Saw 4 because theirs no way I could stomache that sick crapso BattalionWars was my saviour. I think I will go see Dan in Real Life and review that but I have reviewed way to many comedies lately I was already talked to about focusing to heavily on that genre. Its gonna be a squeze I really wanted to review BattalionWars I mean Nintendo hasn't been promoting it so I was going too but no Nintendo couldn't even get the game to stores on time!

Darn Nintendo and making sure the product is ready before it hits shelves.

Doesn't this game have a 10-30-07 release date? How is it late if it isn't even that day yet?

If you need the game for a review, why dont you ask Nintendo for a copy?
