So we've known about Pikmin 3 for quite some time now... 1½ years by now, I believe?

It's hardly Nintendo's biggest franchise, but it looks like they want it to grow with the third installment, since they included Olimar in Brawl and released both Pikmin games in their New Play Control line. I've heard they have a pretty small team working on the third one, which is why we haven't seen any pictures or videos for it yet, but I haven't seen any actual source for that yet.

So what do you think? When will we finally get a glimpse at Pikmin 3, and when will it be out on the market? Nintendo do have a policy to announce games only shortly before release, but I don't think anything we've heard about the game so far counts as a formal announcement, according to Nintendo themselves.

Personally, I imagine we'll see the first glimpse, and an official announcement, during GDC or E3 2010, and release first half of 2011. But that's partly because I believe that Zelda will be a Holiday 2010 title. If Zelda isn't, then maybe Pikmin and another game will be. Thoughts?

Hm, meh. I haven't believed they were working on Pikmin 3 since they mentioned that. When the game was 'announced' by Miyamoto, it was when some journalist specifically asked him about it, and to me his answer sounded like he just told the guy they were developing the game to get out of it.
A lot of people have been incredibly excited about this game and act like we have a lot of info on it from Nintendo, but the reality is, we don't. It's been mentioned, off-hand, by Miyamoto, and that's about it, no new info, no screens, no concept art, not even the slightest rumour. I for one wouldn't be surprised if we never saw the game this generation. But that's imho, of course.

i definitely think zelda is bound 2011, since we didnt even get a trailer yet, and zelda is one of the few nintendo franchises thats based on hype(like SSB), so i definitely think pikmin will be shown next year especially since they've already rereleased pikmin 1 and 2 a while ago.

Also i think they're gonna rush out a few titles so that 2010 will be congested with nintendo software, i just have a feeling they're gonna make up for the dreadful year(2nd half 2008, first half 2009).

So 2010 holidays seems right for me, maybe even sooner in japan

I think it will end up like punchout did and will come out way sooner then anyone thinks it will.

i really have no fudging idea any more. i excpected it all the way back at e307 or so. i was actually hoping for it to come out around the release of the console, because i realized with then how the controls could benifit. i was right about that. it appears the wii controls complimented the first pikmin very well (can't play the second npc yet, stupid noa).

so basically, i have no idea. sadly, we'll probably be saying the same thing a year from now >.
