Forums - Gaming - Think Left 4 Dead 2 is an expansion? You're an idiot.

^^

Just for the record: X-Com: Apocalypse is the proper sequel to UFO Defense - the UFO After* - games, while pretty good, don't have anything to do with the original series, IIRC. I don't think the player-controlled organization is even called X-Com.

And for those of you who missed the references, L4D2 seems to be basically this.

Gametrailers didn't explicitly say that, but the reviewer did mention that he thought there should have been more for a full sequel and it felt more like the game was just fixing the problems from the first than adding on to the series.  Not sure if that counts though.

LOL sorry I meant apoclyspe, the one that came out in '97, not aftermath from '03. Aftermath was quite shitty I thought, nothing compared ot the original XCOM.

Can we just turn this into an X-COM thread already? Best game, or bestest game?

I've about given up on gametrailers. I listened to their last podcast and while discussing NPD numbers they declared Forza 3 to be a disappointment because it had been on sale almost the whole month (I guess nobody can be bothered to look up a release date). Then while discussing Assassin's Creed II, one of them declared something along the lines of "this only further proves that it's been Sony's year." Why you ask? Because it was a multiplat game that he decided to play on his PS3, as if that makes any sense at all...

themanwithnoname's law: As an America's sales or NPD thread grows longer, the probabilty of the comment "America = World" [sarcasticly] being made approaches 1.

Bestestest game.

I also wish the original X-COM and its addon weren't the best ones out there... I also wish ay game out there actually topped it, it could use a new coat of paint and a few extra things here and there (though not many, it's just THAT perfect).

Bolded = Understatement of the month.

Personally, I place Apocalypse above Terror in the X-Com rankings - it's actually a really good game, even if it feels like an early beta. But yeah, the original is still the best one. If you could transfer TFTD's few tactical improvements over to UFO, it would make the game far less frustrating without really affecting the difficulty.

Terror had a lot of potential, but was rushed out the door without the original dev team, and ended up as UFO Defense underwater with absolutely merciless difficulty, really tiring missions and a screwed up tech tree.

And FLYING CHRYSSALIDS.

FLYING. CHRYSSALIDS.

*shudder*

Fair enough, can we just agree that after Apocalypse the game started going down the drain though?
