Forums - Sales - IGN: PSPGo Falters in Japan

yea the iphone is really popular in Japan, and so was the ipod. PSPgo didn't do well in Japan at all, but I knew this was gonna happen and I think Sony did too. The PSPgo was made for the west mostly, it's just the first step preparing people for next gen. Handhelds with downloadable games makes a lot of sense, not having to carry your games with you basically make the system more portable.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

It (PS3's market share) might hit 30%, but definently not more. ~ Neo

well pspgo not doing well isn't gonna have any effect on PSP3000, that's not really the issue here.

.... they'll add games every week and every game released from now on. and the games we actually car about are availble. Why would we want Madden '04?

iPhone = more of a handheld than the pspGo! is in japan.

And that's the only thing I need is *this*. I don't need this or this. Just this PS4... And this gaming PC. - The PS4 and the Gaming PC and that's all I need... And this Xbox 360. - The PS4, the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360, and that's all I need... And these PS3's. - The PS4, and these PS3's, and the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360... And this Nintendo DS. - The PS4, this Xbox 360, and the Gaming PC, and the PS3's, and that's all *I* need. And that's *all* I need too. I don't need one other thing, not one... I need this. - The Gaming PC and PS4, and Xbox 360, and thePS3's . Well what are you looking at? What do you think I'm some kind of a jerk or something! - And this. That's all I need.

Obligatory dick measuring Gaming Laptop Specs: Sager NP8270-GTX: 17.3" FULL HD (1920X1080) LED Matte LC, nVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M, Intel Core i7-4700MQ, 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3, 750GB SATA II 3GB/s 7,200 RPM Hard Drive

Well the real question is: How many people are downloading stuff off PSN with the purchase of the PSP Go (five games? ten games? one game? Whats the attach rate? Only Sony really knows here)  and how much is Sony making off the Go?

If Sony is making $20+ off each Go sold and a few dollars (or more) off each PSN title then the PSP Go really isn't a flop. Once Sony can afford to cut the price and still make a nice profit off the Go then it will take off. Honestly with all of Sony's red ink anything in profit is good for them.

If anything I am somewhat glad the PSP Go isn't flying off any shelves so digital distribution can still be MANY years off. Once they get the pricing right I'll be all for it (Steam sales kick butt.) I'm just waiting to see who has the cahones to make a DD only console.

It's just that simple.

actually, that would be pretty amazing since IT DOESN'T EXIST.

I actually saw someone talking about DL'ed games from the go... I couldnt see where they were getting their info from but the numbers are floating around here somewhere. And strategy dont be a wise guy. You know what I mean. Why the fuck would we need old games of a franchise that comes out yearly.

While the Go sales on their own are quite low, combined PSP sales are above DS so the platform as a whole is doing just fine.

Plus, it is selling better than 360, which counts for something.

If anyone was expecting the DL only concept to do massive numbers they were delusional. However, it is an expanding market and here to stay. Better to get in early and have a hand in how it develops.
