Forums - Sales - MW2 SMASHES COD4's Week 1 Sales (1.5 Million) -- So much for "BAD" PC port!

Smashes?! The fact that the PC version of MW2 did not increase anywhere near what consoles did tells me that it is already suffering. Also, I always said that MW2 will get more and more damage as time continues, because the lack of communities and mods will harm it, and sales will diminish much faster than COD4's.

Plus the added incentive that MW2 is not being sold in D2D, or Impulse, or Gamersgate, or anywhere else but Steam will damage the online sales of MW2. As I recall, COD4 dominated on D2D for several months.

Plus the newly released Left 4 Dead 2 will help destroy MW2's sales, and already made MW2 lose the top spot on Steam.

More damage?

After all the petitions & the outrage that you have been amplifying, don't suddenly try to make these sales seem like a "negative" shio

It is a negative when MW2 PC did not grow anywhere near what the console versions grew, even when the only DD store selling the game was Steam, and MW2 was already Steam-integrated (which cancels out all the benefits that the digital version might've had above the retail version).

It's now at 83rd place on Amazon.com's best selling videogames (it was 9th at launch) and is only the 6th best selling PC game there, being outsold by Ricochet Xtreme, Dragon Age, Sims 3, Left 4 Dead 2 and Sims 3: World Adventures expansion (which for some reason isn't on PC games' best sellers list).

On Amazon.co.uk, the PC version of MW2 was 3rd/4th at launch, but now it's already at 18th, while the consoles versions still dominate at 1st and 2nd.

Needless to say that it is even worse on Digital Distribution market, where it's only being sold on Steam (although it's by far the biggest DD service) and already lost 1st place there too. With no D2D, Gamergate and Impulse sales, I don't see how this goes well for MW2.

So, since I obviously don't understand PC gaming, can someone tell me why, exactly, PC gamers went out and bought a console modeled shooter?

Are some of them ignorant of the games revised MP content, or do they just favor the console style of gameplay?

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

Obviously any game would sell atleast a few copies. The sales of MW2 are suffering (see my post above yours), and will be more evident as time continues.

It's not that PC gamers usually favor a "consolized" shooter, it's just that a huge game such as this one will no doubt attract many casual gamers that will buy games without researching properly or even caring about the design flaws.
