Forums - Nintendo - Anyone else disappointed in SMBWii?

I agree with the critics but just in single mode. However, multiplayer is awesome, I think speed is good, cause some times (playing 4) is hard to see what is happening in the screen (4 players, lot of enemies, coins, powers, etc) with more speed it ll be even harder. So I think is good like this =D

Unic think I didn´t like at all is that is pretty short =( (12 hours with all extras)

Not disappointed at all. Actually it has been quite relieving to jump back into a very old school kinda game reworked to be appeasing to this generation. It's also nice to play a difficult game every now and then and not one that happens because of rubber band A.I. or cheap developer coding... must say this game kicks my ass every now and then. But all contributing to the great experience.

I don't know if it is sad for the rest of the industry or just simply 2 thumbs up for Nintendo, that this game can still be refreshing and even enlightening in this time period. I was at first skeptical about it just being another remake but truly Nintendo has outdone themselves in just giving a great experiences to every Wii owner.

I've only played the game for a few hours, it was released yesterday in Europe... and i must say i was surprised by Mario's speed and by the game's precision... it's way too early to say i feel disappointed tough, as i need some time to really adjust myself to the controls, i still have many levels to discover, and i still have to experience the multiplayer with my kids or some friends...

But most of the critics made in this thread seem valid (especially for the underwater levels), and maybe indeed, the game could be more polished and play "smoother": graphics and controls... and maybe have an online mode and more playable characters, too...

I don't say Nintendo has rushed it, but i think a little more dev time and more features would have been great to release an even better (and so, perfect) game... for a mid 2010 release... but, Nintendo needed at least ONE hit for this christmas season, and it HAD to be this one cos' nothing else's ready... just my two cents, but i may be right...

I got smbwii yesterday, and been playting the hell outta it - and tbh, I really have no idea what you're talking about when you say it does'nt have the mario feel, as it perfectly captures the mario feel from what i've seen and played.

Thus far ive really got no complaints at all

Ironically, yes, I do have an issue with this game. The motion sensitivity in the Wiimote is WAY too high, which has caused Mario to spin-jump me to death more times than I care to think about. For instance, someone talks to me, and I turn my head to respond, figuring I'm somewhere safe. (Bullet Bills are passing overhead.) However, I made a hand gesture that, without touching any button, moved the Wiimote enough to jump me... straight into the bottom of a bullet bill. I'm going to be trying this with the nunchuk controls to see if that fixes it, but if it's still too touchy, I will declare myself done with this, and see it as a very bad disappointment.

I am enjoying the hell out of this game, but I agree that Mario is a bit slower than in SMB3 and World. However, the physics of Mario games have always been changing, you just have to get used to it. (But I prefer the World physics).

Enjoying both singleplayer and multiplayer with my wife, but there is definitely some truth to this:

After the first session, we had to set some ground rules or we would probably have killed eachother for real :)

How can you not like this game.

After you get used to the enemies dancing its easy to time the jumps. Easily one of the best Mario games ever.

Nintendo still doomed?
Feel free to add me on 3DS or Switch! (PM me if you do ^-^)

Just to be clear; I am not disappointed with this game, tho I certainly can think of things that they could have done differently.

What is extremely cool with it tho, is that it is essentially infinitely replayable. The game is completely different in multiplayer and singleplayer, and I've only tried 1-player and 2-player mode so far. 3 or 4 player must be absolutely insane.

I think Mario feels "slower" in this game because unlike in Mario 3 and World, there's no "flying", per say, so therefore there's no need for Mario to run like a bat outta hell.

And you get +1 for those Penny Arcade links... both are so very true!

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

I have not had a chance to play yet -- but it sounds like the speed reaction is something akin to what long-time Melee players felt when they first put Brawl in their Wiis.

Is this a proper analogy?

I am Mario.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.
