Forums - Nintendo - Aonuma: Motion Plus feels "very natural"

Eiji Aonuma has released a few other little blurbs, courtesy of GoNintendo (courtesy of IGN)

"We're taking advantage of MotionPlus. It's become very natural – the movement of your arms is precisely reflected in the gameplay. Thanks to the technological advancements, we hope the gameplay can be more accessible to people." - Eijii Aonuma

He also made comments elaborating how they might change up the flow of the game

"We're making efforts regarding the total flow of the Zelda game. So far, the basic flow of the Zelda games is you're exploring a field, you go to a dungeon, you conquer it and return to the field. We're looking at altering that traditional flow. That's all I can share, and I can't say more until E3 next year."

They seem to be getting more solid on all of these ideas, Motion Plus *will* be used, the game *will* be changed, it *will* be at E3. Things are getting exciting.

Everyone on IGN jumped right on the "we hope the gameplay can be more accessible to people" line. Which I feel is unjustified.

"Pier was a chef, a gifted and respected chef who made millions selling his dishes to the residents of New York City and Boston, he even had a famous jingle playing in those cities that everyone knew by heart. He also had a restaurant in Los Angeles, but not expecting LA to have such a massive population he only used his name on that restaurant and left it to his least capable and cheapest chefs. While his New York restaurant sold kobe beef for $100 and his Boston restaurant sold lobster for $50, his LA restaurant sold cheap hotdogs for $30. Initially these hot dogs sold fairly well because residents of los angeles were starving for good food and hoped that the famous name would denote a high quality, but most were disappointed with what they ate. Seeing the success of his cheap hot dogs in LA, Pier thought "why bother giving Los Angeles quality meats when I can oversell them on cheap hotdogs forever, and since I don't care about the product anyways, why bother advertising them? So Pier continued to only sell cheap hotdogs in LA and was surprised to see that they no longer sold. Pier's conclusion? Residents of Los Angeles don't like food."

"The so-called "hardcore" gamer is a marketing brainwashed, innovation shunting, self-righteous idiot who pays videogame makers far too much money than what is delivered."

These people exist to hate. They feed off their negative commentary towards Nintendo, i think. That could be the only justification.

E3 is to far away!

Hopefully them altering the traditional flow means we will get more freedom exploring the world and maybe be able to visit dungeons in different orders.

I'd also like the dungeon's to be more seamless. An example of a seamless dungeon, is the snowpeak dungeon in TP. Another example is pretty much most dungeon's with the exception of the first 2 in TLoZ.  The dungeon's should fit into the world better than they do. I would also like a good amount of gameplay put into finding the dungeon's as well through hints from NPC's and other gameplay elements, again like the TLoZ. That adds a LOT to the adventuring aspects.

Motion Plus isn't really all that great. I found Wii Sports Resort to be really inaccurate and frustrating to play. But it's definitely a step up from the normal wii mote.

As every control scheme, I expect it to evolve. Wii Sports Resort was only the first game. To say that it is representing of all M+ games, would be similar to saying Wii Sports reprents all regular Wii Mote games. As you can see in Red Steel 2, it is very accurate, and it's fluidity is excellent.

I think the game could be just one big dungeon.

well, no one here has played red steel 2 yet, and judging from the abomination of a game red steel 1 was, i don't expect much. Nintendo blatently lied with the advertising of the wii when they first sold it, motion plus is a huge step forward though. I totally understand that motion + is also software based and developers need to work with their code, and that wii sports resort was the tech demo for it to show case a bit of what it can do, and some parts of it are great, though, if I had to choose between zelda wii being like wii sports resort or twilight princess i'd go with twilight princess. if the motion control isn't a generation leap over what wii sports resort has the game wont even be playable.

I have very high expectations for the software side of the motion+ from nintendo, and hopefully they make that technology available to third parties so we can see something worth buying on the wii in 2011 when we get zelda wii.
