PLEASE NOTE: This is based on one match. And not even one match. 20 minutes of one match.
This game is actually PAINFUL to play. It is about as enjoyable as cutting your arm off with a chainsaw. You die after three bullets, and health regenerates ridiculously slowly. There are no med-packs, of course. Those are for old games. No, you just get hit by a pistol bullet and stagger around for half an hour before a tank missile puts you out of your misery.
The graphics: My first thought on starting the match was "wow, this is hideous". Then, I thought "actually, it's not that bad, it's just no Killzone 2. It's an improvement on the original". And it is. Except why does it look like they sprayed a bunch of sand on TF2 and lowered the contrast?
Sound: This is actually pretty good, but I'm not one to break a complaining streak, so WHY the hell must the air be filled with cries of Middle Eastern martyrs, while the Americans are nice and well behaved? It's racist, that's what it is.
Now, should I go form an opinion of the game that doesn't stem from being killed repeatedly while only managing to kill one person? |
I'm a bit cranky (going to play some beta and take a nap before finally fucking finishing up all my school work, and then I'm finally home free until Thanksgiving XD) so I hope I don't sound offended.
People criticized the first game for having too high HP/too low damage so the ease in which you die is in response to that criticism. You also have the implementation of defibulators, so it's only the result of medics not doing their jobs that is making you frusturated.
There are also medpacs, limited to medics of course. In the first game, there was an over abundance of assaults who were self reliant and made the Support class only useful for its LMGs and Mortars.
Self reliant is the key word. You need to have a good squad and teamwork. The problem is the community, not the core game mechanics, and hopefully as the newbies are weeded out and people become more experienced, you'll enjoy better squadmates.
It looked just as good (with quite a few glitches though, but that's more of just it being the beta) as the videos, so I'm happy. And it's a huge improvement over the first game. I'm more just captivated by the attention to detail with all the destruction and how it's all REAL.
I didn't think that the Americans sounded nice, and I don't know what's a nasty/evil Middle Eastern tone is so I can't comment on that. I do remember the Japanese having horrible accents in 43 though xD
Tips:
Buildings building buildings. Cover cover cover.
That's what you must rely on, and see how exactly DESTRUCTIBLE ENVIRONMENTS perfectly intertwines with that? You're now even more reliant on taking cover, and destroying it because running and gunning out in the open is no longer a viable option.
A lot of people are still running around, but as the newbies get weeded out that'll change, and destruction will only become more key to the game.
Stay behind if you don't like to get killed, jsut like me. Be aware of potential snipers and position yourself so you can't get targeted (if you're going to face down a road, make sure that there's cover to your left, and that the only place you'll get shot as is from the front.
Don't spawn on squadmates unless you're absolutely sure they're not in a kill zone.
If you're in a kill zone, play as an assult class and just start blowing holes in the walls and rushing through, because standing in place and going through conventional routes and alleys will guarantee death.
