Its hard since i grow up with RE but when i started playing the first SH it was some awesome storyline and i didnt like RE 4 so id say SH is the best horror game specially SH2, what do you guys like more?

Well im sure alot will say the older RE games are better, but IMO overall i still prefer RE over all other horror game series. Fatal Frame...now thats some scary $#!t XD

Silent Hill is better as a horror game as no RE title is scary. Resident Evil 4 and 5 are much better games than any SH though, so I vote Resident Evil.

As a horror game SH, as a series i cant really decide, i love them both the same

SH2 was the best horror game i played, but RE 1 and 2 were great games

i was disappointed with RE 4,5 and SH 5, but was happily surprised with "Siren BC" this gen :)

Silent Hill for scares. 2 and 3 are so darn freaky.

Even SH5 > RE5 for scares. Of course, from an action standpoint, RE5 was pretty good.

Silent Hill, of course. RE was never better, not even way back when it was also a survival horror franchise (especially not storyline wise), and now it doesn't even feel like resident evil anymore!

I love both. I'm gonna have to say Silent Hill because to this day the latest release has scared me shitless. RE5 didn't do that.

LOL yea i agree RE is for action game but story sucks big time SH 2 is just one of my favorite games not cuz gameplay it was some epicness from beggining till end

When I was 13 I had my tonsils removed exactly when Siltent Hill and Ape escape came out. It was THE BEST time I ever had (ok 2nd to MGS) on my PSX.

That said though, RE3 is also one of my all time fav's. OMG REmake on the GC had the best graphics EVER at the time. I showed the intro movie to some friends and they couldn't believe it.

I don't like RE5 at all. Bring back the mansions I say. Still...

I'd have to go Resi Evil, but it was very, very close.
