Forums - Nintendo - New Super Mario Bros. Wii spoof (funnies)

if i were in the past i think i would have done do the same thing, its not the fact that the game has 3d graphics and play with 4 players at the same time, its just that if somebody from the year 2025 or so and says "look this new mario game for the Wii3 it has online multiplayer and leaderboards, the gameplay is awesome and the koopalings are back, Giga bowser and Dry bowser make and appearance, etc etc.."

I would be like erhmmmm cool but is like if this things could be plausible in this time i wouldnt be AMAZED O_O or something like that and my head wouldnt explode. its nothing against mario (probaly the game wiould kick ass ) but in the future I want to see games that blow my freaking head off :D i cant even imagine the awesome things that already will have arrived by that time, i just dont want the same thing over and over :/ just for the sake of nostalgia.

Well people seem to like NSMB Wii and its selling quite well

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

I thought it was funny so posted it here, didn't think it would upset people tbh ^^

The message that graphics is not that important to fun gameplay is something I thought might resonate with folks here that think, for example Wii HD isn't as important as it might seem right now; We want it for other reasons of course :)

At the same time, it also seem to dig at NSMBW for staying the same still among the diversity of games today, but thats a little moot because we do have Mario64 and Galaxy. Of course 2D platform games do add to the diversity of video games overall. So I can't see anything really negative about this.

If anything, why is he using a MacBook Pro to show a Mario game lol and why didn't anybody go batsh*t over a handheld computer? or even the ability to time travel and appearing in people's houses?? xD

^Well for me I thought the bashing of NSMB as being the same as older Marios wasn't funny, people obviously love the 2D Mario gameplay so the bashing seems trollish. Not to mention the multiplayer in NSMB Wii is a lot of fun, and something totally new.

As for the graphics, the graphics in NSMB are actually really nice, sure its 2D but so what? A lot of people like 2D, and even prefer 2D gaming.

Sure saying gameplay and fun are more important is great, but the bashing before that point was just trollish, as a lot of people like 2D Mario, and its not like the game is just the same as it was 10 or 20 years ago, nor are the graphics bad, in fact they are very nice.

I didn't think it was funny at all. If it had been like 2 minutes shorter, sure. It dragged on for way too long and by the time it got to the punchline I had stopped caring. They don't have good comedic sense, at least not with this video.

I was offended in a way. The only believably funny one would have been 1992. The SNES had 3D side scrollers I would say Donkey Kong Country, but wait that came out in 1994. So the video wasn't really funny, if I showed NSMBW to some guy in the early SNES era he might not be that suprised, since 3D wasn't even heard of in gaming at that time. Thats probubly the future he'd expect.

But in the 80's sure some Mario player is going to not get exited, yah right if you approached me when I was a three year old playing my Atari 2600 or my NES. And showed me NSMBW I would go ape shit. Then the Pong era, right a guy playing with two lines and a dot isn't going to be awe inspired by NSMBW.

The only funny part I found was the ending with Activision as the new Mario publisher. But even that is illogical as Nintendo said they would never sell any of their franchises even if they went under. Nintendo just wouldn't allow any Nintendo titles to be published on any platform other then a Nintendo platform. Miyamoto himself said the day Nintendo stops releasing hardware is the day that Mario dies.

So no logic, I found it alittle funny but illogical sorta killed it for me!

I don't think it was meant to be logical.

That said, though, I don't think it's funny regardless.

Wow, that was just insulting. It's like if someone tells a racist joke about your race, and you happen to fall into that stereotype, and the joke isn't all that funny.

"Now, a fun game should always be easy to understand - you should be able to take one look at it and know what you have to do straight away. It should be so well constructed that you can tell at a glance what your goal is and, even if you don’t succeed, you’ll blame yourself rather than the game. Moreover, the people standing around watching the game have also got to be able to enjoy it." - Shiggy

A Koopa's Revenge II gameplay video

I don't understand why people dislike this message.

If someone came from 2020, and showed you a game that had the exact same control mechanism, but looked better, would you be impressed?

Essentially, this video says "it's not technically impressive, and it's not revolutionary, but it's fun". And that's actually rather close to the truth about NSMB Wii.

It is also, in a sense, a mockery of the Playstation 3 and X360 fans. They sort of behave the same way as people did in 1990. (I'm not saying that Ps3 and X360 owners actually do this, but it's sort of the message the video sends). I'd say this video is definitely pro-NSMB Wii.
