Pokemon cannot die until I see my dreams realized, a 3D pokemon game, open-world style where you get to see the Pokemon fight and stuff.
And dude... the games are not based off the anime, give it a rest.

@ sc94597: Yes, but guess how you kill the enemies in those games... And by the way, not all shooters are mindless frag-fests; some of them have secrets worth exploring for... And you still didn't say whether you agreed with me or not about the Guitar Hero/Rock Band formula!

Using that logic, Zelda is a Hack N Slash action game, and the 2D Metroids are in the same genre as Contra. There is more to a game than the weapons you use. Also, irregardless of how unrelated some FPS' might get from a genre, almost all of them I've played, and I've played a lot, do not have some basic things that make an Action-Adventure games.
1 The priority is on Action opposed to Adventuring.
2 The levels are sectioned. Even in borderlands, an FPS much larger than Metroid Prime, this is true.
3 There is a focus on disposing items and abilities opposed to upgrading them. A few FPS games do add this feature.
4 Linear story telling as well as linear gameplay. Metroid was a series developed on nonlinearity. It was revolutionary for this. Even in Metroid Prime, there is multiple ways you can play the game. In an FPS you are driven by story, and while you can do other things, it is this objective that pushes you. I'll bring up Borderlands again. It is quite open, but it is also quest based, and that is along the lines of saying instead of 1 linear story, I'm going to play 100 linear stories.
That is why FPS games fit better under the Action Macro genre, and Metroid games under the Action-Adventure.
How can you think that Resident Evil needs to be....discontinued? A new direction, maybe, but Resident Evil gave us survival horror. Resident Evil is the game they based God of War, and in turn, and to a much lesser extent Uncharted 1 and 2 on(and to those who want to argue that, ND thanks Gears in the credits, and clearly borrows from the Gears shooting and cover system which is admittedly, by Cliffy B, inspired by Resident Evil 4). As much as someone might dislike RE, those games have the potential to change gaming with their greatness, and at their worst, the main games are only "good."
Without Resident Evil 4, 3rd person shooters just wouldn't be as good. Without Resident Evil, survival-horror would be called something else.
I spat on Pokemon. A simplistic take on an RPG that only ever produced one truely great game, Pokemon snap, and it's GARBAGE compared to resident evil, imho.
I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.
NO NO, NO NO NO.

Simplistic?
Maybe for the people who don't get into the depth of it. Pokemon has much more depth than most Action Role Playing games, and probably about half the Final Fantasy's.

I used to like these guys during TechTV days, now they are just so lame, and I'm not even a pokemon fan. Adam Sessler trying to be the cool guy who gets laid a lot is actually disgusting. And Morgan, compare Morgan Webb with Jessica Choba from IGN, Jessica at the very very least is likable, not to mention actually hot. Grrr ...
Crash Bandicoot needs to be discontinued? I haven't seen one in ages.
PSN: chenguo4
Current playing: No More Heroes

Watching that made me rage.. and cry.. and think..
Honestly, if you replaced Pokemon with Star Wars and Yu-Gi-Oh with Star-Trek, you could use the same joke. In short, the stereotype is old and nothing unique to pretty much any nerd group. It insults gaming as well.
Pixel Art can be fun.
I think that they either need to radically change Pokemon or stop releasing expansion packs as new games.

No, it's funny cause Pokemon is marketed for kids, yet there are these older guys playing with these 10 year olds and have >>>>>> more disposable income. It's kind of creepy in a pedobear way.
