That's a pretty good comparison shot.
Ehh.. I wouldn't read into that comparison shot too much. someone on neogaf did it for a quick and dirty side by side, but says the wii one isn't representative and only gives an idea.
The big improvement I hope to see is the framerate. There was some slowdown in the Wii version which barely ran at 30fps. 60fps steady in the 360/ps3 versions would be excellent.
Demon's Souls Official Thread | Currently playing: Left 4 Dead 2, LittleBigPlanet 2, Magicka
Even though the gameplay will probably be nerfed with QTE, I'll still double dip if/when this game gets localized. This game is too good for me to pass up on a HD port.

I actually just looked up Zero Punctuation's review you mentioned, and he says "... actually the sword fighting is pretty fun, as it had fucking better be, considering the amount we have to do." Again, that's what I'm trying to get across - the combat is fun. If there are complaints about the gameplay, it's probably the minigames needed to get cash for the boss fights - this does suck, one of the game's major flaws. That has nothing to do with the Wii, though. I wouldn't play through this twice and if I'm going to play through it once, I want to play through the complete version (for those who already played this on Wii, I can understand why they wouldn't want the port. It would feel tedious to go through all of that again just for extra content).
I'd actually love to go through the HD console versions, if I could use the Wii-mote or equivalent. It would only feel tedious because the combat would be dull. (oh yeah.) Okay, I'm aware I'm not about to convince you of anything. I just think the game utilizes the motion control better than any game on the Wii (without Motion plus), which is one of the main reasons I bought it. I mean, if story / style / etc are what you're going for, you can save yourself a whole lot of time and money by just youtubing the thing once it releases.

Saying that using a wii mote for a hack n slash game is preferable just because using a dance pad for DDR and a guitar for Guitar Hero works the best is like saying that using a light gun is preferable for a modern-day shooter like Halo, CoD, Gears, etc. Sure the light gun may work for duck hunt and rail shooters but Modern-day shooters are too in depth forthe light gun to be practical. Same goes for hack n slash games. This is why Halo, Ps360 CoD, Gears, etc. sell a ton more than say CoD on the Wii. The wiimote has found it's niche (ie. Tiger Woods 10, Wii Sports Resort, etc.) but it will never replace the 4 face buttons, 4 shoulder buttons (well 2 shoulder, 2 triggers in case of 360), 2 analogs and 1 D-Pad that the modern gamepad brings to the table. The gamepad brings more to the table. And it's not the gamepad's fault when devs create games that devolve into mindless button mashing. Because it's not always like that. Demon's Souls and Ninja Gaiden are hack n slash games and yet many people find the games to be difficult. If they were just mindless button mashers, that wouldn't be the case.

That isn't necessarily true. The problem we have here is, there's a massive difference in graphics between HD consoles and the Wii. There are also differences in the userbase, namely what games they buy. The reason Madden sells relatively poorly on the Wii is not because of the Wiimote. It's the audience and the values these games stress, most HD games have a heavy focus on graphics.
As for mindless button mashing, I don't quite understand what you're getting at. The NMH combat is great for what it was designed for, most people that played the game agree. I'd think an enjoyable combat system is better than a "difficult" one.
As for the gamepad never being replaced, I doubt the standard gamepad will make it past this generation. I won't be missing it, since motion controllers can do anything gamepads can do anyway. Just throw another analog and some buttons on the current wii-mote if needed (I personally don't think it's necessary).

Not really.... I mean. The Wii version actually looks a lot better then that if you've actually played that. For some reason Wii games don't work well in stills.

As usual HD console owners are getting the Wii's leftovers. I'm tired of this trend.
Developers, when are you going to learn? We don't want your experimental games or shoddy ports with awesome graphics tacked on. We need games developed from the ground up, taking advantage of the HD console's specific strengths.
Screw Ubisoft.

actually its the other way around, wii usually gets the shoddy ports and the left overs. COD4 Reflex anyone.
I'm actually happy this game is coming to the other consoles. I know when Ubisoft brings it over I'm getting it.

Are you sure? Seems odd that I would be so wrong on this subject. I'm going to need to see some evidence. Links too, if you got 'em.
