My Thoughts:::
A week ago I went to a friends house to play NSMBWii, we played for around an hour when other friends dropped by one holding his DS and complaining about not being able to get connection. I asked him what he was playing and he said “Phantasy Star Zero” then another friend (The owner of the home) said yea I was thinking about getting into that. I said “I tried years back to get your into it with the GC version, what’s changed?” I got no reply, so I took it upon myself to try it out. Because he couldn’t connect, they decided to play NSMBWii while I rocked a new character of the 3 allowed in the game.
My first impression was that this game was PSU trying to be PSO, I don’t like the Humar cowboy stuff and that was it, then I noticed something small next to my new character, it was a mag, ignoring all atrocities this game may have committed to the PSO multiverse I continued to the combat. What I soon realized is I was unearthing a diamond from its rough.
The game’s offline was PSO it was PSU but it was PSO, to articulate, all things PSO were there the simplicity in design that didn’t seem to want me to invest hours and hours with the typical jetsam, what the game provided was actually filled with game. I’m just hoping I didn’t fall into the PSU trap where the start I kick ass and at the end I’m swooshing around in a time sink.
Description:::
Phantasy Star 0 takes place on an alternate Earth 200 years after the "Great Blank," a massive war that has reduced the once-prosperous civilization to almost nothing. The sole surviving Humans have worked hard to exist peacefully and have built thriving Cities. The Humans that adventure past the outskirts of these Cities, called Hunters, explore the vast wilderness and hunt dangerous monsters to keep Cities safe. Players will take up the role of Hunters and select from three types of races and different classes, as well as gender for a total of 14 customizable character types. Each character type will play very differently and give players access to a great range of items, armor and weapons. Featuring over 350 unique weapons, gamers will venture out on "Earth," combat dangerous monsters to gain experience and meet new major characters. As players explore further, they will unravel the mystery of the "Great Blank" and discover a dangerous new force that must be stopped.

That site has a community also, but more importantly features a lot of stuff about the games content.
Some Notes::
About Online – The Online function can be broken down into 2 parts.
Free Play - You have NO friend code mode or free play where you do a rush run through a specific area on free roam not quests, you can set up ahead of time which areas you want to go to and the game will find 3 other people who would go to those areas. You have default chat shortcuts instead of your own text.
Friend Codes – If you get a friend code you can play with others, select missions or just run around, if someone else friend tags along you can add them to your friend list on the fly. Online quests and so on are unlocked as you level and unlock offline quests.
Rewards – Almost like trophies except the game gives you stuff like photon shards for accomplishing them, that’s where rewards come in.
:::Also this game has a very strong Lunar feel to it for the offline story.:::
