Cross Game Chat Definitely Coming

 

The EU Blog’s James Thorpe has revealed that the much fabled cross-game voice chat is definitely happening.  In a response to the question “when is there going to be cross-game voice chat?” on the recent Blog regarding the firmware update, he replies “I wish I could just give you a date, I really do!”

“Trust me when I say that as soon as I hear from ‘up top’ I will be shouting about it and making myself the most popular person on the blog.”  So that’s that then, it’s definitely coming.  Right?  I mean, we’ve been talking about it for months now, but outside of our own sources this is the first time it’s been mentioned by SCEE.

If I recall, his response was something about mic chatting or something and he says something like they weren't going to do it because cross-game voice chat was coming. Or something like that.

Great, this is my most wanted feature. I'm glad its still on the map after reading a rumor a while ago about it not coming after all due to problems with an unnamed big publisher's game not working with cross game chat. The publisher was apparently threatening to drop support for the PS3 if they launched cross game chat and it broke their game.

I guess that ND developer didn't know the exact date either and just assumed it was the next FW update. So I'm guessing this means they're focusing on the feature heavily right now.
