Ha ha, mathematics always was my weakest subject. Ok, then I could agree. 2 million or somewhat more is possible. We´ll see.

I have a feeling FFXIII will be huge and that Famitsu (and ioi) are lowballing. With all things PS3, it seems that there is huge potential just waiting to explode. Like when the Slim + price cut.
I agree that FF has maybe been slowly fading but it's been announced for so long now that it's sales will explode, at least 1st week. I could see a 1st week getting darn close to 2 million (I'll go with 1.8m).
This will be one of the most front loaded games of all time though.
In case you hadn't noticed, this is a pure guesstimate as based on a "hunch" without the slightest effort to look into past trends, cureent preorder status, etc...

Have you met the Tales series? Very frontloaded
| ioi said: We have preorders at just over 600k as of Sunday - I don't see the game doing 1.5m week one. But we'll see - Tsutaya's comments are certainly interesting but not in line with what we're seeing at all. |
Last week the Japan preview said preorders were at 535k so I'm assuming it added about 70k preorders this week. If weekly preorders keep going up weekly, with 5 weeks until release it only needs to average 80k preorders a week to reach 1 million preorders and I think a higher than 80k a week average is within the realm of possibility. What's the average ratio of preorders to first week sales?
nobody commented on NSMB's first week... that is a huge prediction!
Tsutaya (one of the biggest Japanese retailers) says preorders for FF XIII are higher than those of FF XII.
Looking forward to: FF Versus XIII / LBP2 / The Last Guardian / Yakuza 4 / ICO Collection
final fantasy is gonna sell way more than that first week and lifetime.

Oh, wow. True, that's pretty huge - that would match the America's.
Their Tales of Graces first week isn't terrible, actually. The lifetime doesn't fit at all though. Seriously, does any game sell over 85% of its lifetime on the first week? I don't think so.
Both Bayonetta and WE on PS3 have exceeded the upper end of the FS on first week by quite a margin. ToV for August estimates were right at the upper end of FS.
I'm still thinking 1.6 million FW for FF13 - now especially with Tsutaya news.
"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY." --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials
