I got some playtime with the game yesterday.  It's awesome.  The graphics are very clean and extremely pleasing to play with.  Few games have this quality of art direction, consistency, and pure hard work put into them and I can't believe how good it looks.  It /does/ look better than a lot of next gen games on my 50" 1080p set, despite running a lower resolution.  Looking good, in this case, seems to have little to do with technical details beyond the vibrant colors and solid 60-per-second framerate.

The sound is amazing.  It seems like the directional surround sound is more accurate than in some other games, although Metroid Prime had very accurate directional sound it wasn't used as much in the environments (just during fights).  The environments in SMG have waterfalls, cannons shooting at you, and all kinds of other things that make use of the directional sound.  The music, however, is completely amazing.

If the music continues throughout the game like it sounds in the first half, it may perhaps be the best soundtrack in any game.

The two-player coop is nice.  It allows a couple people to play together, and that's how I like to play games like this, and both can contribute and have fun.  You trade the main sticks every other star, as always, but when you're using the secondary ones you can stop enemies, shoot them, gather star pieces just by pointing at them, shake grass and flowers to gather more star pieces, and help mario jump and perform spin attacks.  Of course, if you're not careful, you can mess up what the first player is trying to do. But it's pretty easy to be careful, and a lot more fun than it sounds like it should be.

Well... just listen to this. I've uploaded for now 2 themes from Mario Galaxy, which I've recored myself from the game. Mario had to stand with his head between his legs all the time so to shut up during the entire recording... poor little fella *lol*. I hope the official soundtrack will be released very soon.

Put your headphones up and enjoy ;) Unless you don't want to be spoiled about the sound... DON'T LISTEN!!

I have no words for this game. At times its simple, but the beauty, atmosphere and the best sound ever in Mario history makes me really wanna burst in tears. And Bowser... I've even replayed the battle with him, because he's so outstanding beautiful!

OMG can u please give me the Egg Galaxy music (i think its called egg galaxy), i love humming that tune and i dont even have the game yet (have to wait till 29th) but you would really make my day and make it easier for me to wait for the game. please please please

Sure... just PM your mail address to me and will send it to you ;)

By the way, there are challanges in the game which make it quite difficult. I have 2 or 3 challanges which are giving me a real, real, real hard time to get the stars I want *grrr*.

@Origin, lol yes I had to find spots so not go get any inside game effects, like running around enemies or a sleeping Mario for waiting too long. That's why he was standing with his head between his legs *lol*

No offence but that's a lousy recording, a theme you should always run 2 times and not stop just like that ;)

The 2 player feature is awesome. My roomate saved my ass too many times to count by zapping an enemy or grabbing a billion star bits because I'm too busy navigating scrolling platforms *glares at Sweet Sweet Galaxy*

There is no such thing as a console war. This is the first step to game design.

SMG just hit 98% on metacritic. D:

SMG does seem oddly easy to me. I've had at least 15 lives since I got my second star. It doesn't take away from the fun factor, though. :P

If you exit the game you'll be reset back to four lives. How many stars are you up to now?

I noticed that when I got back in today. ALl my lives were gone. :'(

I'm at 17 stars right now, so I'm sure it will get harder as time goes by.

Haha, that level was fun.  I just grabbed the star bits before crossing the platforms, and then long jumped across everything.

fkusumot, go troll somewhere else. A couple friends and I, one of whom hates motion controls, loved this game. There's only one move that requires motion controls, it's just a quick waggle to spin attack...and the pointer is not a chore at all. The pointer eliminates the chore of running to go get star pieces. It feels great...in fact I love every time those star pieces appear...it's a great piece of a positive reinforcement...like delicious candy. You obviously don't know what you're talking about.

Err... you did realize he was just quoting that crappy variety review?

Sorry, I didn't know, and I wasn't sure if he was being serious or not.  I thought maybe he was quoting that article, but the link was not working at the time of my post...that was the first time that Variety review had been linked as far as I knew.

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

the game is totaly awesome i got my euro copy early from my regular shop :D
15 stars I had to stop to go to sleep lol.
