People seem to be on the defensive a bit here.

I disagree.

Games like MGS4, Uncharted 2, Gears 2 and Mass Effect absolutley obliterate Modern Warfare 2 IMO.

Notice how they are all exclusives?

Where do these thread come from and why they are always every other week ?

My non-forum dwelling friends seem to think it's THE game on the PS3 and 360. Games like Uncharted, inFamous, and Mass Effect don't even register, to them.

Mostly makes sense. I do know some real people at school, but I try to avoid conversation or direct eye contact with them

{luckily while they are clearly better at football than me, I do certainly have the leg up when it comes to Modern Warfare 2}

Exclusives and multiplat games can have the same high quality standards.

In fact I played more good multiplat games than good exclusives.
Simply because there are more multiplat games available

I think the amount of people PSN clearly indicates that this is not "just another game on the PS3" it'll probably surpass most if not all PS3 exclusives with regards to PSN activity if the original is any indication.

That also applies to the 360 as well (except for maybe Halo, but it has happened before..).

Whether you hate it or love it, you cannot deny that Modern Warfare will have a bigger impact on gaming this generation (in terms of copy cats and gaming time) then most if not all exclusives on either of the HD consoles.
